You are correct on that. My reply was a quick reaction to what I have seen .... But in the larger world you are very correct. We have millions of deranged people incarcerated because they took their derangement out on others

Heard the newsreporter on FOX ask the question, “What is happening to our nation?” or something to that effect.

Isn’t it peculiar that she never asked that question when kids are no longer allowed to use the name of God in any of their writings in school, when we cancel a Christmas play because a handful of atheist object, when we accept abberations such as same sex marriage, when we kill the unborn by the millions, when this country has clearly turned anti-Christian?

This me-me-me generation had better realize that, unless we change our ways, what happened in Connecticut is only the beginning of worse things to happen.

Of course, the easy way out would be to blame gun owners and the loose interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

I was selected for jury duty a couple of years ago in a double murder case where a young white woman had set her parents up to be murdered by her boy friend, a white male who was no more than 20. She supplied him with her father’s pistol and he did the actual killing. When I first looked at him I was shocked. His eyes were in the centers of dark, black pits and he looked like some hideous thing that had all of its soul sucked out and replaced with pure evil. Indeed, he coluldn’t have looked worse if he’d been deliberately made up for a Hollywood horror movie.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a death penalty case. Also, and most unfortunately, I was preemptorily challenged, meaning I didn’t get to serve on that jury. Fortunatly, the jury found him guilty and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Looking back, from what he did and his appearance, total demonic possession was possible.

5.56? 7.62? What are a few millimeters between friends?

The wife and I were just talking about that. It was an act.

Keep in mind, this man has killed more children with his vote than have died at the hands of wanton killers entering schools. But we're to believe he is distraught by this?

“We have millions of deranged people incarcerated because they took their derangement out on others”

Our mental health system is broken, the public can’t be protected from individuals until after a crime is committed. Parents of children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome will resort to setting their child up to be caught stealing so they can get the structure and protection the prison system provides before they hurt someone.

My answer is - I dunno.

I’ve stopped listening already, too much incorrect and contradictory information as to who is whom and who is alive or dead, which guns, etc. They’ll sort it out better by morninig.

This is of course speaking of King David’s first child with Bathsheba. “I shall go to him” is speaking of him believing that he will see that son in the resurrection to come. There is life after this loss, in vs.24 David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went to her and lay with her; and she bore a son, and she called his name Solomon. And the Lord loved [the child]. It sounds like typical liberal logic to start a movement to ban weapons that weren't even used here.

Just like David Dinkins, NYC Mayor in the early '90s, who called for more gun control after some tourists from Utah were KNIFED in the subway. @sshole!

My sincerest sympathies for the families of those murdered and wounded by this fiend. I am the parent of 2 elementary students, and I cannot imagine the grief I'd feel if I lost one or both. All we can do right now is pray for them to be comforted, because nothing can bring those kids back.

Also, the popularity of first-person shooters pretty much matches a steady decline in violent crimes and murders. If anything, violent video games are reducing crime.

Do you have a source for that statement because personally I find it laughable on its face.

One of our local news readers declared, “the nation is in shock!”

Not me. This is becoming so common; yet, schools refuse to take the appropriate security measures. Like maybe metal detectors, armed guards? Maybe if someone at the school had a firearm, this tragedy would have been prevented.

But no. Schools have to have zero tolerance gun policies. So as long as schools and government implement stupid restrictions against the law abiding, tragedies like this will continue to happen.

Nope. Not shocked at all.

The only difference between an M1A and the M14 rifle, circa 1968, that I shot Expert with, is that the M1A did not and does not have a full auto selector, while most M14 rifles could have full auto selectors installed and some did. Circa 1968 the full auto capable M14 rifles were used as squad automatic weapons. Even the full auto M14 is not deemed an “assault rifle” because it fires full power 7.62 x 51 NATO ammo, instead of the medium power ammo that’s used in genuine assault rifles.

Good answer. I’m with you — turn off TV.

There ARE times the news people can say “We Don’t Know At This Time” — and they should say that — it sounds like they are getting their news by rumor off of twitter or facebook.

“Fox News called .223 a “high caliber” round. It is in fact pretty low as calibers go.”

Why would it even matter, in a close range massacre. That just sensationalizes the situation, and reeks of a preamble to another gun control discussion.

I’m always amazed at how hard it is for the news to report on a weapon. Step 1 would involve asking the police what the weapon was. Step 2 would be to repeat the same information. Step 3 would involve paying a consultant to tell them if this was a ‘big bad-a$$’ gun or not.

.223 is used by the M16 assault rifle in the US arsenal.
