A gunman retreated from a Casper nail salon last week after realizing one of its customers was packing heat.
Police say about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, a man walked into Modern Nails at 2645 E. Second St. and asked a female employee if she wanted to buy some diamonds. The man walked toward the front desk area and the woman replied that she had no money to buy diamonds.
A witness said the man then reached into his coat pocket and began to take out a silver-colored pistol.
At that moment, a woman who was getting her nails done reached into her purse and got her own firearm. Police say the man never fully raised the gun and left the building after seeing the customer had her weapon out.
The man is described as black, early 40s, more than 6-foot-4, about 250 pounds and very muscular. A witness said he was well-dressed and wearing light-colored slacks.
Police declined to release the name of the woman, and employees at Modern Nail were unavailable for comment.
If you have any information on the suspect, please contact the Casper Police Department at 235-8278.
Hey Bob Costas- if only this woman did not have her gun (only the criminal would have had one)
I certainly hope they “comped” her manicure after that!
Well, that likely means a transient, or one of a half dozen people in town...
Shoot First,
Do Your Nails Later
Have gun,
Will manicure
She probably coulda nailed him.
Around here the Asian ladies in the shop would say,”Yoo so good you get peddycur and foot buff for free”.
More like: “I geeve you fifteen percent discount. Fifteen percent”.
What a shame someone in Sandy Hook wasn’t armed this morning.
Bookmarking this for the “Concealed carry doesn’t stop crime” crowd.
You don’t have to convince me.
My concealed carry class was conducted by a man whose job was that of either a principal or assistant principal at a local middle school(I don’t remember which). Without giving away details, I KNOW the kids at that school are safer than most. My concern at the time was having a firearm in the car when I picked my grandchildren up after a school in the same district. His advice to me was what the school didn’t know wouldn’t hurt it.
In the days to come no one will be talking about anger management and self control or self discipline. NO one will be talking about the horrible decline in civility in this country, brought to us compliments of the “psychologists” who told us controlling our anger and our feelings was bad for us. “Let it all hang out” we were told. And now we do; muffin tops and road rage and snearing at those who disagree with us politically, labeling them “extremists” who need not be taken seriously. Some “progress”, huh?
