Well, here in California we have the death penalty, and currently we have something like 700 people on death row.
The most sure way I know of to live for multiple decades longer, is to kill someone and get convicted in my state.

There may be federal charges possible if terrorism/crossing state lines, etc. If the second suspect exists, the SOB is going down hard.
