One news outlet [don’t know which one] the reporter said *This is price we pay for freedom.*
This is going to be one long drawn out nightmare....the speculation is thick on the channels now.
I couldn’t agree more.
Also I firmly believe “gun free zones” need to be done away with - they are an open invitation to these type of whack jobs who know they are perfectly safe to enter because they are the only ones armed.
What on earth are you talking about?
I didn’t say anything about hacking. I said that you don’t understand how Facebook works and that you should stay away from it.
Americans are not going to all sign-up their kids with *Eddie Eagle* programs.
Remember these were very young kids Kinders only through grade 4..ages maybe 4-9? Quite defenseless, IMO.
Yeah, I do too. Like I said in 1203, this young woman I know is a ticking time bomb as well. When I heard of the Clackamas Town Center shooting, my first thought was, “Oh, no....” I honestly thought she’d done it.
Her parents try to ignore it, and the only person aside from myself who’s recommended to her that she needs some help was an ex-boyfriend of hers who’d finally had enough of her and kicked her out. Yeah, that episode made me nervous, not the least of which was the fact that I let her crash for a few days at my place while she found a new place to live. I couldn’t just leave her in the street, for heaven’s sake.
I always live with the dread that one of these days I’m going to be surfing the net and her name will pop up, in connection with a headline like “Mass Shooting in Portland, Oregon: at least 10 dead, many injured”.
When she was at my place for a few days, I DID NOT let her know that I had guns. In a strange way, thankfully I was between jobs at the time, and I was able to keep a vigilant eye on her.
Aspergers and violence go together in many cases. I know A guy with a kid that has it. He says the kid gets violent when he does not get his way, and that he gets worse as he ages.
“Kids (and adults) with Aspergers are prone to frustration, anger and sometimes violence. The rapidity and intensity of anger, often in response to a relatively trivial event, can be extreme. When feeling angry, the child with Aspergers does not appear to be able to pause and think of alternative strategies to resolve the situation. There is often an instantaneous physical response without careful thought. When the anger is intense, the youngster with Aspergers may be in a blind rage and unable to see the signals indicating that it would be appropriate to stop.”

At least FB does not have the problems this site tends to have. Plus it has good privacy controls.
CNN did a timeline. It’s too soon to know for sure.
Apparently the principal/psychologist were in a meeting in a room near to where the shooting started. A report said they went *toward* the shooting and screaming.
Yeah, and this site also doesn’t sell your information like Facebook does. Clearly the security can’t be all that great if you’re able to hunt down innocent FB profile and post their info here.
What we have seen today in media coverage is simply the norm, the fog of war. It’s always like this, and they’re doing the best they can.
There are always rumors and misinformation and speculation and discussion, and it all filters out hour-by-hour until we finally get the complete picture.
These days, with high-tech instantaneous communication, we get the full story sooner than we did in pre-internet and cable days, but it still takes a while to figure out what happened.
The sad reality is that, there is no privacy on the internet, period.
Not sure if this is what you heard, but a guest on Fox was talking earlier about the lack of complete full-time security lock-down of schools (not bemoaning it...just commenting on it)...and then he said something to the effect, "but that is the price we pay (i.e. the risk we take) for being free."
Again, might not be the same guy, but the guy I heard was extolling the virtues of freedom...not criticizing them.
Apparently “developmentally disabled” is PC code talk for crazy.
This tragedy made me think at first...Israel goes through their children being killed so many times by terrorists.I wonder how long WE would put up with that.
No excusing needed. We are all struggling with a "why." We may learn much later since father and brother are cooperating. If he was being seen by doctors...etc. His belongings will be searched---computer, writings phone, etc. I thought of Israelis also. I recently read that no school authority or guide in Israel takes a group of children anywhere without being armed. If that is true, I imagine authorities in their schools are armed as well. What we probably will never know is if one or two school authorities at Sandy Hook had been armed, how many lives might have been spared.
That pretty well describes that friend of mine.
I certainly hope that nothing ever sets her off in a major way. She’s nice enough most of the time, and she can be genuinely sweet-natured. But when she gets irritated or frustrated by something or another, look out.
Yeah, that’s a great model. We want to be like Moslems.
I just saw an article on fox’s website saying the father lives in Stamford, CT and found out about the shootings from a reporter...so what does Hoboken have to do with it..messy reporting to say the least.
Yep...must not offend the crazy people...they might go into a school and kill a bunch of innocent children. Kinda like not ‘offending Islam’.....they might cut our heads off. Time for some sanity here.
Sorry folks..but it is time to put these violent nutters in secured homes or something. Most of us lock our guns up....time for crazy folks to be locked up.
... and it won't matter how he killed, only that he had an assault rifle (though it was never seen or used in the assault). You warned us, Travis. Thanks.
If only he had used a bow and arrow, then he wouldn’t be famous right now.
