MADISON, Wis. -- The state Medical Examining Board disciplined 11 doctors this week for giving out questionable sick notes to public workers at a 2011 rally to fight Gov. Scott Walker's limits on collective bargaining.
The discipline was handed down Wednesday, eight months after 20 other doctors were punished for similar activity.
In the latest round, six doctors were reprimanded and five residents were given administrative warnings, a lesser form of discipline. The six doctors who were disciplined were Susan Carson, Jennifer Edgoose, Laurel Mark, Dipesh Navsaria, Richard Schmelzer and Melissa Stiles. Carson is retired; the others are with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
They were ordered to pay $200 each and attend training courses. Sheldon Wasserman, chairman of the Medical Examining Board, said all six had taken care of the training before Wednesday's discipline was given.

Should have lost their licenses. Willful misdiagnoses.
The parents should sue the doctors for denying their children a education.
They should pay the employers for the employees who skipped work.
What happened to the teacher who gave fake notes???
They're not getting what we would call an education from the loser union thugs, no matter how many days they're in school.
probably promoted to principal
The slaps on the wrist were so brutal that screams could be heard from a block away.
It would seem to me there were engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defeat the work laws of the state. Should have gotten jail time.
There was a court ruling this summer that the legislation was unconstitutional (after it was litigated in the Wisconsin Supreme Court). What was the final outcome of appeals. I haven’t been able to find out.
I know. It is a way to stop doctors for doing this crap.
One would think that deliberate falsification of a medical record would involve bigger penalties.
Given the blueness of this state, that is more than I expected. Granted, they should have lost licenses, but that they are being reprimanded at all is amazing.
It might get their attention, at least. Wait until the doctors are all Federal employees: they’ll show the same care for the sick that teachers have for students.
If you plant the seed of taking money for a doctor to the liberal parents, they will go after them like rabid dogs.
Ummmm, isn’t conspiracy and fraud a criminal offense?
There are a number of angles that can be used to punish these doctors/teachers.
- current patients of theirs can sue them, or at least file a state-level complaint, for incompetence, or at least get their licenses suspended for incompetence.
- criminal complicity
- fraud
Liability is the only thing that brings an end to debauchery
I would amend that to include criminal conversion as well
