Pennsylvania will not set up its own health care exchange under the federal Affordable Care Act at least not for now, Gov. Tom Corbett said Wednesday.
Setting up a state-based exchange would be irresponsible, Corbett said as he faulted federal authorities for what he said were inadequate answers to his questions about cost and other issues.
"Health care reform is too important to be achieved through haphazard planning," said the Republican governor. "Pennsylvania taxpayers and businesses deserve more. They deserve informed decision making and a strong plan that responsibly uses taxpayer dollars."

They’re falling like dominoes.
Refuse this and the medicaid expansion.
Opt out of Obamacare.
Love it keep it up!
Some say the GOP is useless and it should go away. I think not. Most GOP governors are refusing to have anything to do with Obamacare.
We need to strengthen the GOP, not trash it!
That’s unexpected.
I thought my Governor was a wuss.
Maybe not.
The states have been pillars of leadership. It may take some time, but the leaders at the state and local level will hopefully rise to the national level and sieze power from the cowering aristocrats.
Hey Obama,
I live in Pennsylvania. I have a hangnail.
Where’s my free healthcare?
BUMP!
What are we up to now...25...26 states? No mention of that in ABC’s ‘report’ (surprise).
Thank You Gov. but you still will NOT get my vote again..so maybe you should reconsider about running for re election..you have been a disappointment, and one good idea does not satisfy this voter...
Interesting...but you have to parse the words.
that post was so big, it didn’t even fit on my browser!
that is the kind of response that is needed!
bobo
He’s my gov. too. He certainly is being a wuss in taking on right-to-work though.
Hope this fits better, and it's kinda Christmasy!
Gov. Bill Haslam announced this week that Tennessee will not create a state-run health insurance exchange, but the Republican governor said he remains undecided about whether to expand Medicaid.
Haslam said in a speech to the Nashville Rotary Club that he was unsettled by the lack of guidelines from the federal government about the insurance marketplaces that are required under President Barack Obamas health care overhaul.
This is a massive federal program to be implemented across millions of individuals, and the amount of information and data that we have about it or the lack of that is scary, quite frankly, Haslam said.
Im more and more convinced theyre making this up as they go, he said.
It was right after the item about Steven Crowder getting beaten by a union thug.
Last I heard it was 22 and this makes 23. But not sure exactly what it is.
26 would be nice, puts US over 50% not counting DC which I feel does not count.
Opting out of ObamaCare is a state’s friendly way of saying, ‘’We’re seceding. We’re joining other freedom-loving states in this first step toward liberating our people from Federal tyranny, and if it works, next we’ll be withdrawing from the bankrupt Social Security System and setting up our own state-pension arrangements guaranteed to be solvent.’’
And what will Obama do? Most likely travel to an ObamaCare-loving state like California and make a campaign speech decrying those mean Republican states that aren’t cooperating. Then return to Washington and play golf.
What else is he going to do if states like Pennsylvania and Texas decide to go their own way on healthcare, bomb Philadelphia? Redeploy our bumbling troops from Afghanistan where they can’t win battles against 7th-century tribal warriors to Dallas on a suicide mission to take out millions of dedicated gun-toting good old boys from the Lone Star state?
