Ah, so its a birth defect?
I agree, but I think you may have clicked the reply button on my post by accident?
“If indeed those epi marks can be tested for - as was hinted at in the article, then we can watch the change in liberal attitudes towards abortion.
After all, what might many parents do when told their progeny could be gay?”
Good point.
Also consider: what if — after testing and discovering such “epi marks” — that they can possibly be “cleansed” from the fetus in utero? And thus ensure that the newborn will in all likelihood be heterosexual?
Having said that, this thread provides as illustrative example as one could find on this forum regarding the struggle between science vs. dogma.
I wonder how many folks took a couple of minutes and read the entire article? Very interesting.
Some time back, in another FR discussion about homosexuality, I stated that I considered it to be “a naturally-occuring deviation from the norm” — even though it might not be quantifiable or predictable via genetic means. This article seems to suggest that.
Perhaps the researchers are totally off-the-wall with their findings. If such “epi marks” are indeed measurable, we’ll know soon enough...
If they can narrow it down to a Queer gene or specific gene sequence .... then the queers are doomed! If this is even partially true, the queers will be doing their utmost to bury the studies. Remember, queers don’t reproduce, they just recruit.
True.
Then those that view abortion as a sacrament will done their Birkenstock’s and “clash” in the street with the fabulous homos. A cat-fight to end all cat-fights!
I bet further research would show that it isn’t passed from mother to son but from uncle to nephew (or aunt to niece)—with mom (dad) unwittingly allowing inappropriate opportunities. Didn’t The Who explain this in Tommy?
I’m skeptical of this “study”, but hypothetically if it is correct, what does that make “former homosexuals”? Liars, or miraculously cured?
That was not my intent with posting the link. My intent was to provide an answer, based on scientific research, to the question ... 'What Causes Homosexuality?' Contrary to the failed, yet obsessive, quest for the 'holy grail' of a 'Gay' gene, researchers in the field have already identified the multiple environmental (family, homosexual/unusual sex experience in childhood, cultural indoctrination) [described at length on the link I posted] factors that have led to homosexuality.
The completely ridiculous, illogical and contradictory to the scientific data itself, conclusions of these researchers, in 2012, are themselves proof of it being crappola.
Agree across the board.
As you say, we don’t have an Adulterer’s Pride Parade. We also don’t have a Left-handed Pride, or a Blue Eyes Pride Parade. I’ll explain.
Gays like to maintain they’re born that way, as are left-handed and blue-eyed folk. Fine. Were I to somehow take pride in the fact that I’m left-handed and demand a pride parade to celebrate, I’d likely be laughed at.
So, if gays had absolutely nothing to do with their state, it’s not an accomplishment on their part. They had no choice. Why be proud of something they had nothing to do with? They’re frauds.
It is, yet again, a case of them wanting to have it both ways, you’re welcome for the unfortunate pun. Incidentally, we could never be allowed to have a Straight Pride Parade; that fact alone underscores gay hostility to the rest of us. Pride indeed.
“Were all born sinners, though.”
Absolutely, and in that sense alone, I’ll agree that homosexuals are “born that way.” So are adulterers, fornicators, and those who just lust after others in their hearts.
We are ALL born “that way -” but it is no excuse for sin to get celebrated or codified into law.
I ran across this study a couple days ago. I was hoping that someone on this thread could illuminate why I had a very uneasy evaluation of the science it was expressing. There is something very fuzzy about the conclusions that can be drawn from it. Yours is the only post that even seemed to address the study’s findings.
Many behaviors are “normal” but that doesn’t make them acceptable. Selfishness is normal also. There are many other examples.
