Charlie Rogers maintained her innocence even as a Lancaster County judge found her guilty Monday of faking the anti-gay hate crime that shocked Lincoln and made headlines across the country.
Rogers, 34, pleaded no contest in Lancaster County Court early Monday afternoon, a reversal of the not guilty plea she made in September.
Judge Gale Pokorny found her guilty and set her sentencing for Feb. 14.

“fake ,but accurate” according to newscasters and professors everywhere.
Her sentence should be one day in jail for every man-hour spent investigating her claimed “crime”, and she should have to pay the salaries/expenses of those same man-hours as restitution.
FWIW, I think this should be the punishment for anyone making a false claim of a crime.
The courtroom is not a gentle place. Charlie is a very fragile personality. This has been a very distressing experience and she felt she couldnt go on.
I guess some people just plain deserve extra-special treatment.
It doesn’t matter. The fake hate crime is out there in the ether and helped people to make up their mind on who is the victim.
Once again we see the burning liberal lust for the moral superiority accorded by victim status.
Here's the inevitable liberal response to her failed scam: "She's not responsible! Homophobia pushed her over the edge! The poor dear needs state-sponsored therapy!"
I think the best punishment would be a small ad campaign in Lincoln, with her picture and the caption: “Don’t Believe Homosexuals, Because Homosexuals Lie!”
That is, from her point of view, the worst punishment would be that instead of being seen as a ‘victim/hero’ of “the community” of homosexuals, they see her as an embarrassment who should be shunned.

proclaim your innocence by pleading no contest. lol
