On Monday, Research Director of the Independence Institute David Kopel appeared on CNNs Piers Morgan Tonight to debate the issue of gun-related violence with Piers and Josh Horwitz from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.
In the video below, you can see the debate unfold. Whats most telling in this exchange is Morgans admission that he, personally, would like to Remove every gun in America.
Of course, what preceded this statement only seconds earlier was the perfunctory disclaimer, which is often made by those who secretly wish to pass onerous gun laws, I do have a respect for the Second Amendment.
So, obviously, theres a clear contradiction here, on one hand, Morgan (if he had his wish) would confiscate every gun in America, but on the other he claims to have respect for a law-abiding citizens Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Piers, you cant have it both ways. You clearly do not respect the Second Amendment if youre true stance is pro-confiscation.

There are two points other points to be made about this debate. The first is that the proliferation of gun ownership in America has not led to an increase in gun-related violence. Kopel pointed this out. And its true.
The most recent study to elucidate this fact, as Kopel alluded to, was the study done in Virginia that examined crime data and gun sales from 2006 to 2011 and found a negative relationship between gun sales, which increased 73 percent over those five years and gun-related violent crimes, which fell by 24 percent over the same period.

Though, because the study doesnt compute with Morgans preconceptions about guns and crime, he called it a load of absolute claptrap.

You go back in time and arrive at the Dachau concentration camp. You hand an M1 Garand and 100 rounds to each inmate. Question: What do you think they will do with those rifles?
He's bad mumbo.
That about sums it up. Nothing else needs to be said.
Might was well lock and close the thread.
Take care.
LOL! Perfect
Lunch? Tell him to pack both a suitcase, and an ice chest, because it's going to take a while...
the infowarrior
Morgan playing “If I were the British king, I would ban all guns from the colony!” He’s still at it.
Piers Morgan is a British citizen and has no knowledge of our Constitution or how it works.
Ignore his crap trap!
I wish I would have thought to say that! !00% correct historically.
Correction!
!00% correct historically= should be 100% correct historically!
I think the British tried that before. lol
Thanks for the clarification, I thought he was from the country of asshole!
He's NOT a naturalized American now. Please provide a link to documentation that he's now an American citizen if you can find one. I found only evidence of the contrary to your statement.
Leni
He should go back to Merry Auld England and quake at the sight of a pointy nosed kitchen knife.
Hard to believe that this country had an empire than spanned a quarter of the globe.
I just looked and can’t find anything. I swear I thought he said so on America’s Got Talent when one of the contestants said to go back to England....Maybe I misunderstood...I agree with the contestant regarless.
You arent what you once were either, to be honest.
I am all for giving the odious Morgan a kicking, but can we stop the crap WW2 history please.
The UK numbers have been explained numerous times in numerous threads.
The UK has TWENTY EIGHT different violent crimes on its statute books, which is far more than other nations. That makes on paper the UK look very violent. When in fact it isnt (most violent crimes are against property).
The UK with a population of over 60 million, had less than 700 murders last year.
We dont want him!.
Wrong.
Its a myth that the British are subjects because we have a monarchy. The British have been citizens since 1948 and the first Nationality Act.
