Thanks, I’ll keep this in my files. It could be helpful to a lot of people I know.

To quote the famous American philosopher Frank Zappa...

“You’ll love it! It’s a way of life!”

;)
Seriously though it is a stunning work. And it WILL make you see all this BS in a whole new light. Think of it as Machiavellian on a level that Machiavelli would have envied. But it is honest, real and one hell of a wake-up.

That’s a hell of a LONG exchange,

Yeah, well the truth is debunking a lifetime of progressive, racist programming is going to take a much longer than that! Thanks for the kind words.

I’ve referred back to Machiavelli in my thoughts so many times it’s ridiculous. So if it’s along those lines, but better, I’ll love it.

Is there some requirement that you actually have a relationship with him?

Not really. I hold all of the cards. I've never taken a penny from him, and there's no inheritance on the line. My wife will not leave me whatever he does; his own wife loves me to death. We have a wonderful new baby boy who lights up the life of everyone in his presence. If grandpa doesn't want to be a part of that, that's his loss, and one less person for me to have to worry about countering their influence on my son.

He was born in Africa, so that's why he calls himself "African". He is actually Canadian now. My wife came to the U.S. for school, and is now a naturalized American citizen.

Wow, I can understand why you did that. That’s when a person’s politics overshadow their basic humanity.

As soon as I figure how to create a ping list (!), that would be fun.

Unless the guy is planning to leave you a lot of money or you work directly for him why didn’t you just tell him to “eff off”?

It could come to that, but I do love my wife, and want her to be happy, and I do genuinely enjoy political discussion and debate, to the extent that one can be had in any sort of real way with someone. So, it's no skin off my back to take the time sit there and break down the fallacies embedded in each of his arguments. There are also other family members being cc'd who are I think persuadable.

You’re giving these people way too much credit for being
“reachable”, and wasting far too much breath, and risking carpal tunnel syndrome, by having to in effect “start at the beginning” with them. For 25 plus years, I’ve fruitlessly taken the same tack with bitter-end Liberal relatives, and have come to the sad conclusion that my arguments START at a point their arguments never GET TO. It’s as simple as that.
They don’t have the intellectual curiosity,or the impulse to
try to get to the objective truth about things, that you do:
they’re willing to happily stay in the warmth of their Liberal echo-chamber.
Having said that, your mammoth post (the longest personal post I ever remember seeing on FR)serves it purpose, probably, as a comprehensive statement of the point you’ve gotten to, and a good way of getting down “on paper” where you stand in the ongoing political debate. So——kudos!
But, jeez, don’t say it might come across as “acrimonious”!
These people deserve not just acrimony, but mockery, delivered on a daily basis, the way they give it to us.
BTT

I'm discovering that more and more. It may be the most frustrating thing of all. People who absolutely believe themselves to be smarter than those with whom they disagree, but who have the intellectual curiosity of gnats.

Really, if you think about it, conservatives have won the "argument". Communism lost conclusively, and any one who disagrees with that is free to move to North Korea. European-style welfare state socialism has been demonstrated by recent developments to be just a slower path to bankruptcy by Greece, Spain, Italy, France, etc. And American progressivism has been shown to be in error by the results of the Obama administration in every area of endeavor.

And if you look at any demographic that is "persuadable" in American politics, they've moved to the right in numbers that dwarf the Reagan Era. But the difference is that the Democrats have successfully changed the electorate such that non-persuadable demographics (blacks, Latinos, Asians, single women, gays, welfare recipients, etc.), have become a majority. We can argue until we're blue in the face, but those groups believe that the Democrats are for them, Republicans for those evil rich white straight guys, and that's the end of the story. Scary.

It is fascinating, most of all because of the personality disorder of the person he is debating, and the window it offers into the Leftist/Narcissist mind.

The first one was very interesting too. I’m sure he gave us the followup, because a lot of us got absorbed in that one, and I’m greatful to him for it.

I too have some Indian...Mohawk on my mother’s side. French Canadian too. On my Father’s side there’s a lot of Euro. Depending on which branch of history you follow, “Lenhart” is an alternate spelling of “Lionhart” as in “Richard The..”. So My blood is a bit blue.

Royal blood? Oh great....yer gonna be insufferable now... Thank goodness you don't have any slave blood too. You'd prolly be unbearable .. LOL

Well, GGGGGgrandpa Rich was oppressed by his dad for a while so ‘technically’ I might ;)

Of course the fact that my branch may or may not completely line up with RTL’s branch might mean I’m really just a regular serf descendant like everyone else.

But since in Obamerica, a white woman can be an indian princess, dammit, I can be descended from kings!...WITH slave blood too!!! Because i ‘FEEL’ good about that!;)

I tell you, genes and ancestry can be fascinating stuff. My paternal line traces back to an ancient Scottish border clan. On my paternal grandmother’s line, I’m related to a Confederate General, a union Captain, and John Jay Crittenden, US Attorney General. One of his forebears fought in the American Revolution.

I’ve got Native American blood on both sides. About five different tribes that I’m aware of. As to the African blood, some were slaves, but surprisingly (to me), others were freemen. No one knows what tribes they hailed from in Africa.

So, don’t be surprised if one day you run up on a red skinned black guy sporting a cowboy hat and a Scottish clan badge tattoo. That’d be me.

This guy has made a few YouTube videos. He’s pretty passionate:
I suggest you sit down w/ your father-in-law and watch this one together.

I’m related to a Confederate General, a union Captain,

Ha! I can one-up you there. I have a great-great-grandpa who served on BOTH sides of that war. :-) :-)

Or you could say he served in two wars: The first - 1861-1863 - was the War Between The States, aka Mr. Lincoln's War, aka The War of Northern Aggression, aka the Second American Revolution, etc etc etc. And the second war he fought in - from 1863-1865 - was the Civil War, aka The Late Great Rebellion, aka The War of Southern Aggression, etc etc.

And all because his hometown on the Arkansas/Mizoo border switched loyalties mid-war, while he was in a Union POW work-camp.

Yup! I've got all kinds of famous ground-breaking ancestors. On the other side of my family, I have a great-great-grandma & grandpa who were the very first ever to get divorced in their particular branch of the Mennonites.

Just bursting with pride here..... :-)

Well, truth be told, my G-G-G grandpappy did fight in the Civil War and the Mexican American war. Spent some time in a Mexican prison for his troubles, I might add. It's why his son, my G-G grandpappy was born here in Texas, just prior to statehood.

“Lenhart” is an alternate spelling of “Lionhart” as in “Richard The..”. So My blood is a bit blue.

You sure about that? Because Richard's family name was Plantagenet, not Lionheart or Lionhearted. "Lion-Heart" was only his nickname, similar to Peter The Great, or Erik The Red, or Pedro The Cruel, or Ivan The Terrible, or Edward Longshanks, or Louis The Fat, or Obama The Foolhead/Dunderhead/Doganhead etc etc. In addition, he never spoke English, so his nickname was "Couer de Lion" == Heart of the Lion. In later times, as the French language waned in England, it would be anglicized to "Lionheart." (And no, Ethelred was not "Unready". Just terminally stupid is all.)

Congratulations in you made it all the way through!

Yes, I've gotten very good at quickly turning the wheel of my mouse without bothering to read anything.

Your father-in-law can't disown you, and if he's so petty as to let politics get in the way of family, that's his loss.

Lol, can’t say that I blame you. But you’re right, it is just petty and ultimately his loss.
