In a Roswell, New Mexico grocery store, a loaded semi-automatic Rock Island Armory .38 Super and seven rounds of ammunition were found in a packed case of frozen ribs. A grocery store employee made the strange discovery and the gun and ammo were then brought to the Roswell Police Department. Unfortunately, the gun was cleaned before it was handed over so police were not able to uncover any forensic evidence.

Sounds like someone ordered either a half-slab or full-slab...then maybe ended up on a slab.

38 Super is very popular in Mexico because they cannot have military calibers like 45 or 9mm.
I bet someone from Mexico in the meat packing plant had it on them. And he decided he needed to dump it in a hurry. Say for example, Immigration or other cops walked onto the plant floor, etc.
Drop in in the box, close it, send it on down the line.
