A Parker County woman called 911 early Tuesday, saying that her husband was outside, holding a burglar at gunpoint.
"Hurry up now, because my husband's fixing to shoot him," the woman said after giving directions to their house near Springtown.
The man with the gun pointed at him had the same idea.
He, too, called 911. "He's going to shoot me," he told the operator.

An interesting change of pace, with the 911 operator telling the burglar not to move.

LOL! This is in my stomping grounds. I'll have to dig around and find out who the genius was.

If this were in the NE the wife would be calling 911 to report her husband was holding an illegal weapon on a person who had run into a bit of bad luck and needs a 2nd chance.

"Hurry up now, because my husband's fixing to shoot him," I'd go around the block a few times, to give the husband time.

LOL! This is in my stomping grounds. I'll have to dig around and find out who the genius was. The article identifies him thus...
They arrested the man in the pickup, identified not as Philip Tanner, but as Christopher Lance Moore, 41, of Bedford.
...along with a booking photograph. Known local n'er-do-well, perhaps?

Well, if the wife says her husband is fixing to shoot the burglar, and the burglar says the same thing.....
Did the husband shoot him? Be a dang shame if the wife and burglar were wrong.

I love that quote, ‘fixing to shoot him’. What’s he doing, loading a musket?

My first ex-wife is a local 911 operator. I'm sure I'll get the story. I can well imagine my ex telling the goblin to cool his heels.
Don't mess with Texas.

There are some key items left out of the story.
The owner lives with his wife, their newborn, and his wife’s son on a piece of land out in the boonies. No cops or neighbors close by.
The property owner was on the news (Dallas station) last night and said when the moron got into his car; the homeowner got into his truck and blocked any chance he had to get away. During that time he also had his 12 year-old stepson train a shotgun on the intruder’s car and said, “If he gets out to run, shoot him.”
The other big piece of info is the owner asked the intruder what his intentions were when he was in the house, and the intruder replied something along the line of “bad things.” Crazy or not, if someone said something like that to me late I night, he would be, if not dead, in a serious world of pain and discomfort. The owner and son showed remarkable restraint and composure.

That punk is lucky he wasn't caught on my place. He'd have been out of that truck, and proned out on the ground, right among the "fahr aints" and other varmints...
And, I'd have had me a new truck after he forfeited his for trespassing in it "in the night-time"...

LOL! That's exacty what some folks are receiving for Christmas: a mug imprinted with an image of the state of Texas and Davy Crockett's famous quote You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Texas. And, I though I will dearly miss my native State, my heart belongs to a little gal waiting for me down in Texas.

Welcome to Texas. Study up on the gun laws, they are a little weird down here.

When the resident asked what the intruder was doing, he answered, "Just unlucky, I guess," No, actually it was your very lucky day. Your head wasn't blown off from a shotgun blast.
