Lately, youve probably been asking: What ever happened to Rick Santorum? The guy who ran for president in the sweater vest? The one who compared homosexuality to bestiality and did 50 push-ups every morning? Its certainly been on my mind.
Santorum is still in there swinging. Lately, hes been on a crusade against a dangerous attempt by the United Nations to help disabled people around the world. This week, he won! The Senate refused to ratify a U.N. treaty on the subject. The vote, which fell five short of the necessary two-thirds majority, came right after 89-year-old Bob Dole, the former Republican leader and disabled war veteran, was wheeled into the chamber to urge passage.
We did it, Santorum tweeted in triumph.
Well, it doesnt get any better than that.
The rejected treaty, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, is based on the Americans with Disabilities Act, the landmark law Dole co-sponsored. So, as Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts kept pointing out during the debate, this is a treaty to make the rest of the world behave more like the United States. But Santorum was upset about a section on children with disabilities that said: The best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration.
This is a direct assault on us and our family! he said at a press conference in Washington.

I’m sooooooooo sick of libs telling me that I have nothing to fear from lib policy. Abortion wasn’t going to lead to euthanasia; oh, no, never.
If anyone reads the article, make sure to put your hand over the left side of the screen so you don’t have to look at Gail Collins’ green teeth.
From Rush Limbaugh's "35 Undeniable Truths of Life":
"Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society".

“The ADA, which brought empty parking spots and ramps used twice a year to a store near you.”
So True! Thanks to stimulus bucks, CalTrans has just finished “rehabbing” Interstate 680 through the San Ramon Valley. As part of this work, crews jackhammered out all of the “handicapped” ramps in the sidewalks at each overpass ( that’s four per intersection ). They then re-poured them exactly as they had been except that now there is a “depression” for the yellow bumpy shit that’s mandated to assist the “blind.” Mind you, the yellow bumpy shit was already there, but it had been put on without the now “required depression,” hence this “repair.” My guess is that do do all the overpasses was at least a six figure subcontract, but what the hell “it’s other peoples money,” right! Lastly, like the unoccupied handicapped spaces, I’ve lived here 40 years and have yet to see either a wheelchair bound person or someone with a white cane at any of these places. It would have been cheaper to find the handicapped and have provided them with a chauffeur and a car.
I work with elderly and disabled people, most of whom are quite capable of walking the 40 odd feet or so to the store on their own. They can then use a store provided chair if they need to. 9 times out of 10, it’s a grossly obese person who parks there.
He was the best one running this year. Hope he sticks around.
BTW, Eric, Rick Santorum is coming to Pulaski County next month as the keynote speaker for a fundraiser for a local pro-life group. I don't want to post a link since it could be interpreted as abusing Free Republic as an advertising board, but for the relatively small number of Freepers who live in south-central Missouri near Fort Leonard Wood, do some Googling and you'll be able to find the details.
We went to see and hear Rick when he visited Osage Beach during the campaign. He is a good man who deserves our support.
