The USS Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier that holds eight fighter bomber squadrons and 8,000 men, arrived at the Syrian coast yesterday in the midst of a heavy storm, indicating US preparation for a potential ground intervention.
While the Obama administration has not announced any sort of American-led military intervention in the war-torn country, the US is now ready to launch such action "within days" if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad decides to use chemical weapons against the opposition, the Times reports.

Russia Today is an incompetent and worthless news source, regardless of what you think of the US news media. They have no subject matter knowledge of what they report on.
They couldn’t tell the difference between an unmanned surface vessel and an unmanned underwater vessel last week (in a RT story that Newsmax stupidly quoted.)
Pray for these soldiers.
I hear that a lot: “I can’t trust American media, so I rely on Russian media I cannot trust.” LOL
I am reminded of the story, I think it was on Johnny Carson maybe To Tell a Lie, years back about two brothers in the Navy who went home for Christmas and dicovered they were stationed on the same aircraft carrier.
I thought Obama tried to make Romney out as the war hungry monster while only he was serenely aware of the fatigue America had over endless and needless wars.
It’s starting to look like we should take a force and “storm” that mountain top in France that has been ruled off-limits on 21 Dec 12.
Well if it’s posted on the Internet it must be true! [/sarc]
I didn’t say I didn’t trust the Russian media.
“I love the way you think.”
I’m just catching on to the way this administration uses the media to misinform the public and form their narrative, or “truth.”
The next thing up for the administration is to nationalize the 401k’s. Have you noticed the recent attention in the media this topic has gotten, most recently from TIME? Simply paving the way for the government by running a story asking if it’s a good idea, since only the rich have 401ks, etc...
Ah... so THEY were the sources for those errant military aircraft pics shown on the screen at the DNC.
Agreed. It’s not our job. If they gas their own people, take it to the UN and let them write a very stern letter.
Unless, the purpose is to keep the two sides equal so that the war goes on for a decade or so. Maybe two.
For whatever reasons, Iran is supporting Syria and Saudi Arabia is supporting the Syrian rebels. Saudi Arabia. Iran. Libya. Oil. Soros. Obama. Hillary.
I'm not familiar with them per se, but I would probably rate them as truthful as the 0bama Regime's Chief Propaganda Minister Jay Carney, maybe more so. After all, another Russian publication, Pravda was about the only one to point out that US capitalism had been killed by socialism.
And maybe a few Marines, but as you pointed out no troops or soldiers.
It's understandable that the foreign press does not understand the terms. Sadly neither does the domestic press.
but it is NOT OUR FIGHT. . .
100% correct! But since when does reason and law mean anything to obama? Congress has no balls to stop him so he will continue to act as a dictator. Libya was not our fight either.
I refer you to my comment #24.
