Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) warned his conference on Wednesday that leaders are "watching" how the rank-and-file vote to determine committee assignments, according to sources in the closed-door meeting.
Boehner addressed the firestorm over the removal of four lawmakers from plum committee assignments at the weekly GOP conference meeting.

"Mr. Ackerman" "Aye."
"Mr. Adams" "Aye."
"Mr. Aderholt" "Aye."
"Point of order, Mr. Cantor"
"The Chair recognizes Mr. Huelskamp."
"I move that the House proceed to a voice vote on this matter."
"The Chair, having considered the request, will now proceed to a voice vote on the removal of the Speaker. All in favor please say 'Aye'."
"All those opposed?"
*crickets*
"The Ayes have it. The motion carries. The Speaker is removed."
“leaders are “watching” how the rank-and-file vote”
Whose “leaders” are you talking about little johnny boner, yours? You, yes, “YOU”, little crybaby, are supposed to be ours. You don’t even amount to a pimple on a leaders ass.
>> If House conservatives cant challenge John Boehner then they have no business being there and they are certainly not up to challenging democrats.
Hear, hear!
Stand up for your conservative principles, people! You were elected to represent your district, NOT to put a rubber stamp on whatever Boehner wants. (which, sadly, is probably what Zero told him to want)
You cannot possibly be serious.
I’m past beating up on Boehner. It’s like beating up on a mental retard. Where the hell is the replacement for Boehner? I am less mad at Boehner than I am at Paul Ryan and other conservatives in the House who continue to support Boehner and won’t overthrow him. What’s up with that? Why the hell won’t our guys in the House do something?
It’s not like we can vote Boehner in or out. It’s like electing a Pope where all the cardinals go behind doors and pick the pope and the smoke comes up and we find out. If we can’t get the ‘cardinals’ to do the right thing we’re screwed.
Yes, lets goose step with Boehner. He needs to be removed and sent packing. Time to get some true conservatives in charge and get rid of these old Bull Rhinos.
Looks like we have two dictators now.
It is not a question of whether votes or voting patterns are taken into consideration in making committee assignments. It is a question of who assesses the votes and voting patterns and who makes the assignments.
Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy have amply demonstrated that they are unfit to serve in Congress much less as leaders of the GOP. They are corrupt, spineless cowards when dealing with Obozo, Pelosi and the rest. They are Trojan horses in the GOP caucus. They need to be removed from leadership, assigned only to some obscure committee dealing with, say, forestry, until purged from public life. They cannot be trusted. They ought to be primaried or, if they survive primaries, they should be opposed by well-financed and organized third party conservatives until they are destroyed. The three of them are utterly useless and an embarrassment to a political party which dishonestly claims to be conservative.
Make the three of these useless POS "leaders" walk the plank politically and take their portable mattresses, their portable red lights and their sacks of quarters with them. Any GOP dirtbag congressthing who has a problem with purging all three of them can walk the same plank. Make Steve King the Speaker and choose a Majority Leader and a Majority Whip of similar quality. FUJB. FUEC. FUKM.
There would have to be a conservative that sufficient House members would all unite behind to elect as Speaker. To my knowledge no one has announced they will take on Boehner. Perhaps Paul Ryan would be a logical choice since he was the VP nominee after all and has mass name recognition. But whoever it is it has to be someone most Republican House members can support. Who is this person who has agreed to run against Boehner? Time is running out
Until there is someone to actually challenge Boehner then all of this is just academic
Somewhere about 40 years ago there was a delightful scheme to depose a Demonrat Speaker (Carl Albert?) by forming a majority made up of the GOP Caucus and Southern Democrats (then far more conservative than now). It would have required 40 Democrats or thereabouts. To obtain their votes, the GOP Caucus would have had to agree to elect the quite conservative Congressman Joe Waggoner of Louisiana as Speaker and Waggoner would have had to agree to name many conservative GOP members as committee chairs in a fair division of such patronage between GOP and conservative Democrats. The effort failed and Waggoner retired at the end of that term.
I live in an Illinois district just south of Ryan's Wisconsin district. Ryan has a decent voting record and is certainly more palatable than Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy but, if conservatives are going to topple the leaders, they should seek a better candidate than Ryan who, whatever his voting record, is a suck up for leadership. He joined with leadership in purging my Congressman Don Manzullo (22 years of superb service) in favor of Adam Kinzinger, a carpetbagger from Chicagoland, who was originally elected in a Joliet district by the Tea Party and stabbed the TP in the back immediately upon arriving in DC.
The leaders handed Kinzinger $600 K in special interest money from out of state corrupt interests to dispatch Manzullo with a blizzard of outright lies. This resulted from Manzullo writing to Boehner a public letter one year ago asking that Congress be called back into session to pass a resolution telling Boehner's pal Obozo that there would be no more debt limit increases. No increase in debt limit would mean fewer of our tax dollars being squandered on bloated corrupt special interests of all stripes such as feed the coffers of the leaders of BOTH parties. Gee, Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy would have less mad money to play with if the GOP caucus actually took the public's interest as its own.
The only part of Boehner's purge of GOP Congressmen that might have been justified was purging Weepy Walter Jones of North Carolina, a real mushball particularly on war, defense and foreign policy. Of course, those would not be Boehner's reasons. Instead, even Weepy Walter was purged for not being on board with Weepy John Boehner's craven sell outs on matters of importance to the rich and corrupt and to the Obamacrats.
What you say is basic fact.
If we can’t collectively recollect ourselves, here in the conservative/Tea Party wing of the party, and go handle mustering 16 votes in our own party, there will be no 2016 for conservatives whatsoever against democrats.
I’m starting to tire of “ain’t it awful”, and ready for recovery to get back to work.
So, which 16 votes should we go after, and where are Palin, Malkin and Red State when it comes to naming names? I mean how long, after all, do we have to make headlines but actually DO nothing??
Thanks for the ping and informative/educational posts, BlackElk. Fascinating thread (I read it all).

“Americans” in the halls of Congress should be able to stop and reverse this debt clock and eventually turn it into a surplus clock WITHOUT raising taxes...and at that time (of surplus)...start drastically reducing current taxes.
We could build a nice monument to them in their respective states or in D.C., as a way of thanking them for preserving and strengthening the republic.
DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic.
[But all the sudden he is Mr. Tough guy...]
Bawling, Boozer Boner is just using more liquid courage to play the tough guy.
Take that away and he’ll end up in rehab.
Bonghead is the second worst thing for conservatives these days.
Imagine the colossal reductions in public spending that could be achieved without any harm to the USA or its citizens (other than politicians and their financiers). Obozo has spending at such a level that massive reductions in spending are easily tolerable and, of course, desirable.
The surplus clock is a great idea!
God bless you and yours!
(humbly) and you and yours, BlackElk...and all FReepers.
