Reacting to Bob Costas controversial halftime gun control lecture on Sunday night, retired NBA all-star Charles Barkley said he carries a real gun because he feels safer with it.
Barkley, appearing on Costas Tonight, said he doesnt think the nation has a gun culture but rather a crime culture especially in the black community.
You know, we as black people always, we dont have respect for one another. You know, weve got more black men in prison than we do in college and crime in our neighborhoods is running rampant, Barkley said. And I know everybody reacts when something like the Belcher thing happens, but being black, this is something you deal with all the time. And its just sad. Im a guy, I carry a gun. I carry a gun.
Costas then pointed out that Barkley lives in Arizona where he can legally carry a gun.
Even when I lived in Philadelphia, Ive had a gun, Ive carried a gun in my car every year in my life since I was 21, 22. Never had to use it, Barkley added.
Are you packing right now? Costas asked jokingly. Just being sure.

Good for Barkley! I wish he would have asked Costas what he thinks about the endemic violence in the Culture of Sports that Costas makes his living pimping. What percentage of NFL players are felons compared to the general population, Bob?
What happened?
There are no more musicals.
We have a depraved culture that is entertained by wrong-minded behavior and has lost sight of moral values.
When killing babies is sanctified life holds no value and that permeates our society.
Funny, I thought the same thing, Which is why I don’t watch or care about sports anymore. Most of these “athletes” belong in prison or should be shunned from society, remember what they did to Steve Garvey after he cheated on his wife, nowadays it would be- atta boy.

If a white man had expressed his fear of young black males in an equal manner he would be hounded to death by Messrs. Jackson/Sharpton and the unashamed hit men would be the MSM
Could refer to stun guns.
"He's sorry now AND HE CAN TAKE OUR TEAM TO THE PLAYOFFS!"
Tomorrow, he’ll claim he was misquoted on tape...
There were always many black women with kids and no father. Several times the number as in white neighborhoods. Thats what I saw, and you can look up the statistics. Of course, lots of black families were working like hell to hold things together. They were gaining, as Charles Murray tells us. Then came the 60s, and the kids stopped talking to their fathers and uncles, and uncles and disrespecting them for working their behinds off for a little gain. Washing tools instead of working on a drilling rig, which they could have done as well as a white guy. Trying to to persuade their suns that there was a small pot of gold, somewhere.
Barkley, appearing on "Costas Tonight," said he doesn't think the nation has a "gun culture" but rather a "crime culture" especially "in the black community." "You know, we as black people always, we don't have respect for one another. You know, we've got more black men in prison than we do in college and crime in our neighborhoods is running rampant," Barkley said. "And I know everybody reacts when something like the Belcher thing happens, but being black, this is something you deal with all the time. And it's just sad. I'm a guy, I carry a gun. I carry a gun."I was told by a coworker, some years ago, and yes, she happened to be black, that every black man you see (this was in the 'hood, where I worked) was carrying a gun, concealed of course, and quite illegally. And it made perfect sense. She mentioned this right after the shopkeeper right across the street from my workplace, and yes, he happened to be black, and an ex-con, shot a robber to death, and yes, the robber happened to be black.
