House Speaker John Boehner on Wednesday warned his House Republican conference against dissent from GOP leadership and threatened retaliation similar to that against the already-purged conservatives if anyone else breaks from his pack.
The Hill reports that, according to Kansas Republican Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Boehner used his weekly GOP conference meeting to note that we [leadership] have punished four members, he claimed that it had nothing to do with their conservative ideology, but had to do with their voting patterns."
Huelskamp also said Boehner threatened there may be more folks that will be targeted and that Boehner told the caucus that we're watching all your votes.
Its unclear what criteria Boehner and GOP leadership plan to use in the weeks and months ahead. Boehner spokesman Michael Steel wouldnt provide specifics on what criteria or votes on which the Speaker is watching conservative Republicans.
Instead, when asked, Steel provided Breitbart News with the exact quote another Boehner spokesman gave two nights ago for a response to a completely different question. The Steering Committee makes decisions based on a range of factors, Steel said.

I suspect that if there is going to be a revolt in the ranks that overthrows Boehner, Ryan would be in the cat-bird seat to become speaker. Importantly, Boehner is about 15th in seniority among Republicans.
A Republican aide also pointed to the fact that Rep. Walter Jones, a North Carolina Republican who has consistently broken with leadership over the war, was replaced on the Financial Services Committee by Rep. Mick Mulvaney, a protégé of Sen. Jim DeMint and one of the most conservative members of the House.
So why didn’t Huelskamp vote for the Ryan Budget? is this one of the reasons Boehner is taking him off the committee? who are they being replaced with? I am not going to jump the gun on this yet...waiting to find out more info.
Ryan’s budget, while a step in the right direction was to little to late.
A budget that does not make the needed cuts NOW does nothing to affect future budgets down the road.
The GOPe needs to go. They are just as worthless as the democrats.
No. They are WORSE because they pretend to be something they are not. With a democrat I know what I am going to get.
“I believe this is a different Michael Steel. Not the (former) RNC Steele.”
Thats my understanding as well. Two different people who just happen to have the same name.
Well well... I just got a message from my Representative via Facebook regarding my question of the Speaker (my question was right after congratulating him on his appointment to the House Ways & Means Committee):
Thank you very much Michael for the kind words. I appreciate the message.
If you look at the members who were added to committees and given chairmanships there are lots of conservatives. Mulvaney, one of our most conservative members, was added to Financial Services. And many who think the Speaker is in the wrong dont realize that the members removed from the Budget Committee voted against Paul Ryans budget.
Best,
Tim
I knew that, too, saw it happen, but no one seemed/seems to get how revealing that was and that was Reince Priebus and Boehner cutting out conservatives in an illegally called vote. The nays won, but they called it the other way. That was evil and this purge from Boehner is a continuation of dumping conservatives.
“Had Romney won, there was a whole conservative agenda on the table. Likewise if we picked up seats in Congress as we were supposed to.”
Sadly, I have to disagree on that point. The conservative stuff was to get conservative support. I don’t think he was committed to any of it.
True. You can never remind people enough about that point.
And, of course, you must NEVER vote the way people who elected you want you to vote, if it isn’t the way Mr. Bonehead wants you to vote. What an unbelievable situation. You owe your allegiance to “the party,” not your constituents.
No, they’re all laughing at us.
I should have paid attention to the spelling.
But it did give me a chance to vent about how I feel about the former head of the GOP Steele.
: > )
Excellent, Defiant.
“Boehner is in a position to do a great deal of good. But hes running in the wrong direction?? What gives!?”
He is a ringer.
As I said...Amash voted against the Ryan budget. I do believe that is the reason he is OFF the committee and yes...Amash supported Ron Paul
