Too many Freepers will go further, and claim islam not only deserves societal acceptance, but 1st Amendment protection as well.

I think Louis IV was supposed to be Louis XIV. Louis IV reigned from 936 to 954 and was pretty weak, one of the last of the Carolingians. Louis XIV, on the other hand, was the Sun King and dominated Europe.

The first sentence is ambiguous, since it is about 15 centuries ago that the Franks accepted Christianity (Clovis, the first Christian king of the Franks, died in 511). Obviously that's not what the author had in mind.

It's going to come to a head one way or another. Ordinary folks aren't that slow in identifying groups that get others to do all the submitting without any submitting on their part. Once found out, those charmed king's-favorite types get branded as hogs and get sent packing.

"Now it's your turn to submit to our law. You've gotten your own way more than enough by now."

If there's one little life lesson I've drawn from this process, it's why pushovers are disliked and held in disdain. All too many of them end up hectoring or snooting the ones who don't roll over that easily.
