gyptian President Mohamed Morsi left the presidential palace in Cairo on Tuesday, two sources reported, after protesters angered by his decree last month to extend his powers clashed with police outside.
"The president left the palace," a presidential source, who declined to be named, told Reuters. A security source at the presidency also said the president had left the building.
Some protesters broke through lines of police who were protecting the palace and demonstrated at the palace walls.

Is anyone taking odds on Morsi himself? That is one furious populace.
This tells me that the MB may be the best-organized group in the region, but not actually capable of sustaining continued majority support.
They're doing what we should be doing.
MB is apparently incapable of the cold, calculated political planning of, say, US Democrats. They give full vent to their hot heads, and that tends to put a damper on their political support.
from fox news article:
The country’s privately owned TV networks planned their own protest Wednesday, when they will blacken their screens all day.
oohrah!
Full disclosure - I haven't had access to or owned a television or had any sort of cable connection for same since roughly 1970. I can say that this is an excellent idea. A better idea would be to make it permanent for everybody worldwide.
Television is a vast wasteland and does nothing but distract its viewers from things demanding their immediate attention.
Maybe Morsi headed to Obama’s for a sleepover.
You could regard that either way...perhaps it’s self-censorship.
I’ll give the Egyptian’s that are protesting credit.. we should be doing the same thing in this country against our oppressive government regime.
job abandonment
if he isn’t union protected
he is gone
No show jobs are why you have unions.
“Is anyone taking odds on Morsi himself? That is one furious populace.”
Weird - I have not been paying any attention except the headlines on Morsi on FR. But I had a dream last night where someone asked me if I knew if the protests in Egypt were just mobs, or if it was “tanks in the streets” type stuff.
I’ve had a few foretelling dreams (on stupid things), so I just HAD to click on this thread. Anyway, put me down for $10 for a “tanks in the streets” type thing shortly!
Check in for bipolar disorder. That will fix things.
The “Military” will get tired of the unrest and depose this Islamist clown very soon. They only went along with him because they thought the public really wanted him...and I don’t think they (the military) realized he was going to be an extreme Islamist (the military tends to be more secular).
I predict the military will take control of the country before the end of December, but no later than January.
The Military will get tired of the unrest and depose this Islamist clown very soon.
The senior military leaders who might have deposed the dictator are all gone. Theyve been bought off. They realized that if Obama wanted them gone, theyd be gone, so the buyout looked good.
Obama wouldnt need to have them killed, hed just withdraw support. The Egyptian Army depends on Abrams tanks. Support for those tanks is paid for by US taxpayers. If the support (maintenance, spares) are withdrawn then the tanks will stop being useful in fairly short order.
Having said this, the US authorized General Dynamics to sell the Abrams technical data package to the Egyptians. This will allow them to build their own spares. They could, I presume, also give the data package to the Russians or Chinese who would then build and supply spares. Also, the South Koreans have been competing with GD to supply spares and support. (The Korean K1A1 is the M1A1 with a diesel engine.) So, the carrot and stick act wont work much longer.
Incidentally, the tanks arent used by dictators as tanks. Theyre mobile pillboxes used for crowd control. Four men in a tank can defeat or disperse thousands of Arab-springers. The only weapons capable of damaging or destroying an Abrams are wire-guided missiles which the Chinese, Russians and Iranians have supplied to the Muslim Brotherhood. As long as the current Muslim Brotherhood dictator is in charge then the wire-guided missiles arent a problem. But if one of the other generals had taken charge 10,000 missiles could be deployed against the 1000 Abrams tanks Egypt has.
“The senior military leaders who might have deposed the dictator are all gone.”
The officers below them are “moderate” as well. They are not extreme “islamists” and don’t hold the “Brotherhood” in high regard. No president, even in America, can stop a military that decides to throw a coup.
It won’t happen in America because that is not what our military personnel are like. However, in Eygpt, the military is used to being the de facto government. They will not stand by while extreme unrest continues...they will put an end the the current government IF the anti-government forces increase and protest strongly enough.
We should ALL hope the anti-government (AKA anti-Brotherhood) forces grow and cause the military to overthrow the current regime. It is NOT in the U.S. best interests for the Brotherhood to succeed.
