LEAGUE CITY With a karate chop to the throat, a 79-year-old resident disarmed a rifle-toting man who was accused by police of being high on bath salts while trying to break into a home.
Ervin Brittnacher awoke shortly before 6 a.m. Monday to a racket in front of his house in the 3000 block of McFarland Road, League City police Lt. Bruce Whitten said.
We talked to the homeowner, who said he woke up to a guy banging on the porch, Whitten said. It sounded like he was ripping the screen off.
Brittnacher opened the door to see what was going on.
He struck him once, took the gun away and shut the door, Whitten said.

Yup, no matter how big someone is, they need to breathe.
Shins, groin and throat - don’t waste your time hitting anything else.
Here we have a win/win situation. The Democrats will insist that this example proves that firearms have no place in society as even a geriatric can disarm an armed felon with a simple Karate chop and they can now move to ban and confiscate all firearms.
Conservatives win because they can simply exercise their 2nd Amendment rights by arming themselves with 79 year old karate choppers.
Good for him not tactically sound but it worked.
Never take a gun to a karate fight
I would adds eyes to that list of targets
Next step,
Ban karate.
And ban the book of Hong Kong Phooey.
LOL

Very efficient. Maybe the old man is a Jet Li movie fan. Or a former black belt instructor.
This guy is really gonna get it from the other prisoners in his cell block. Karate chops all day long.
Old man: “Yea, though I walk through the Valley of Death, I am comforted, for I am STILL the meanest SOB in the valley.”
Martial art skill is one weapon they can never take away from you. If regular exercise is a part of your life anyway, why not practice exercise that carries extra benefits? Especially in times like these.
LOL! I would change my tagline to this, but no one would know what it means.
It only takes about 15 pounds of point pressure properly applied to break a collar bone. I know this because I knew a street-type martial artist who lived in a high crime area, and used this as a technique.
He said when one or the other collarbone is broken, the associated arm becomes worthless. Break both collarbones and you are like the Black Knight in the Monty Python movie.
And the best part is that they take a long time to knit, so you are looking at months of wearing an uncomfortable brace. And, he added, almost everybody who gets a broken collarbone did so by doing something stupid.
The two finger eye poke can also be useful.

Where can I go to get one of those?
“almost everybody who gets a broken collarbone did so by doing something stupid.”
It’s true. I broke mine when I was 4 standing on a high chair trying to get at the berries my mom was using to make a pie.
