Should homelessness be a protected trait like sex, race, age and many others in the city of Madison? The citys advisory Equal Opportunities Commission is beginning to look into adding homelessness to the list of characteristics which may not be considered in housing, employment and public accommodation under Madisons Equal Opportunities Ordinance. Interest in exploring whether homeless people should be designated a protected class to ensure their civil rights goes back to a controversy early this year about efforts to dissuade the homeless from hanging out in the lobby of the City-County Building, committee Chairman Brian Benford told me.

That’s “SIR Bum” to you!
Well - in Australia where I work (just home for the Christmas hollidaze) you calling yourself SIR Bum - well Bum is lingo for arse. So, Yessir Sir Arse .... LOL
Remember the WPA?
The citys Equal Opportunities Ordinance already specifies a long list of characteristics that may not be considered in considering someone for housing, employment, public accommodations or the use of city-owned facilities: sex, race, religion, color, national origin or ancestry, citizenship status, age, handicap/disability, marital status, source of income, arrest record, conviction record, less-than-honorable discharge, physical appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic identity, political beliefs, familial status, student status, domestic partnership status, and status as a victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking.
Can someone please explain to me what genetic identity is?
I guess genetic identity is like gender identity.... if you say you are an XX and not an XY then you are. How dare those DNA tests say otherwise!
“Can someone please explain to me what genetic identity is?”
Well, if “gender identity disorder” means that you believe, say, that you are a man trapped in a woman’s body, then maybe “genetic identity disorder” is when you think you are like a cat trapped in a man’s body?
My dog used to love people food and hated dog food, maybe he had that disorder and thought he was a human?
It must be hilariously funny to actually live in Madison.
Just imagine bumping into a member of this ‘civil rights panel’ at Starbucks!
Right there in front of you, in living color, an ambassador from another planet - I think it would be the highlight of an evening.
Otoh, living with drooling leftist morons always has its downside; so, have a laugh while you can Madisonians!
