Markets have been quiet for most of the day.
But in the last few minutes, we've seen stocks lose their legs.
Bloomberg is reporting that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little progress has been made regarding fiscal cliff negotiations and that he was "disappointed."
If Congress is unable to make a deal, a series of tax cuts and spending programs are set to expire by the end of the year, potentially cutting 2013 GDP by as much as 5%.

Doesn’t this have to handled in the House of Representatives?
When anything regarding the “Fiscal Cliff” comes up for a vote in the House or Senate, every Republican should just vote “Present.” When the Democrat plan fails, they can’t say it had “bipartisan support”, because no Republican will have voted for it. They can’t accuse the Republicans of obstructing a deal because no Republican will have voted against it. The Republicans should just get out of the way, and let the Dems own this.
The COMMUNIST media will say:
Republicans Refuse To Help Democrats Save The Country
Republicans Stand In The Doorway Of Reflief For Millions
GOP Stance On 'Fiscal Cliff' Issues Is Heartless
We're doomed no matter who does what.
The Communists now control everything in this country, everything.
Did you listen to Jeff Kuhner on WRKO in Boston, today? He said exactly the same thing. Have to say I agree. That’s how O drifted through the Senate in IL.
Market will go down plenty when all of this money is taken out of the private sector and transfered to the BIG GOVERMENT run by “BIG O”
Let it crash, let Americans get what they voted for! How much worse can it get?
Does that include not filibustering?
I think that depends on how much a person has to lose.
I was speaking in the overall sense, as a nation; not individually
Interesting. Obama has until September 2014, and it will be 6 years and his peak-peak performance will be worse than Bush.
Oh for crikes sake!! Every year we go through this dance and as usual they all wait til the last minute and then Tammy Faye shuffles out to the microphone boo hooing in his hanky to confess that once again the GOP caved in.
I can’t even listen to it anymore.

Me neither. Who expects anything else?

Duct tape is cheap and functional.
No, that would be Constitutional. Nobody cares about that anymore.
More than likely the tax and spend communists will win this debate but we should all demand that before a single penny is raised by a tax or a single penny is reduced in any domestic spending program ALL and I do mean ALL foreign aid must be frozen at ZERO until we are no longer an in debt nation.
How many billions, millions, thousands, hundreds, tens of dollars have the rest of the world sent after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy?
Seems our paid for friends in the world are all like T-Rex with tiny arms too short to reach into their pockets to send food, clothing, generators,...
This MUST be a starting point even though the dollars are a small percentage of the problem no American should get hit while we still allow all the communists in the State Department go give our money to all the inferior countries and inferior cultures of the world.
