There's nothing like tuning into an episode of "The View" for a little exploration of social sensitivities in the modern American culture.
In keeping with that tradition, on Black Friday, a term used to describe the Friday following Thanksgiving, which is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season, the use of the word "black" to mark this occasion was a topic of discussion on "The View" for its potential "racist" implications.
A more truthful name would be slightly gray shopping day or Obama’s Going Out of Business Sale.
The libs should have a field day with this one. I remember this show as a kid growing up.

She has a master’s degree in education. Now we know how worthless that is.
Joy, you ignorant slut! Why not ask if it isn’t racist to claim that people like Susan Rice should not be questioned about ethics or competence because they are black?
What % are on the government handout? I suspect the vast majority receive their income from those of us who are working and paying taxes to support them.
Michele Bernard said, yesterday on the McLaughlin Group, that the future of the country was bright because we have a black president.
Wonder if Joy finds that racist.
I always hear this talk of code words. I thought long and hard about this subject, and I indeed have discovered real code words, though I doubt their use is intended to be a code.
Youths
The other thing interesting about this particular word, is I rarely if ever see this word used in any context other than in crime reporting.
Dunno.
Daytime tele. Usually a time reserved for work. Went to the demo as I was about to comment that it was probably mostly college educated women staying home with kids. Earth to Stanne, paging June Cleaver.
Not sure why signing up for benefits doesn’t take one off the voting rolls.
My response: yup, it is. So is preferring white meat turkey. So is hating Obama. So is ordering my coffee “black.” Yup. Sure.
I don’t care anymore. Call me racist. OK with me.
PS I do hate commiebama’s color - red...
Great concept that I would support, but there would be no support among the politicians who use those benefits to create voting constituencies.
They work for us. I don’t care how many cynics deny it.
Buying votes is wrong and “everyone does it” doesn’t work in adulthood any more than it does in middle school.

Vinny Gambini: It is possible that the two yutes...
Judge Chamberlain Haller: ...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?
Vinny Gambini: Uh... what word?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Two what?
Vinny Gambini: What?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Uh... did you say ‘yutes’?
Vinny Gambini: Yeah, two yutes.
Judge Chamberlain Haller: What is a yute?
Vinny Gambini: [beat] Oh, excuse me, your honor...
[exaggerated]
Vinny Gambini: Two YOUTHS
Joy’s only quandry would involve C cells or rechargeables
No, Joy it is not racist. You - like the majority of leftists/liberals/Democrats - suffer from a mental disorder called CPRS: “Chronic Perceived Racism Syndrome.” Symptoms include being introspective, irritable, or irrational when a skin color is mentioned, regardless of the context. But it typically concerns only one skin color. Sufferers of CPRS do not worry when someone sings “Red River Valley,” hums “Yellow Brick Road” or eats at “White Castle.” But just mention “Black Friday,” and it is racist!
You and your ilk are scary, Joy.
This is one of the few instances when “black” is used as a positive descriptor and still this white liberal b*tch idiot complains.
She is a moron.
I asked my brother yesterday if he thought anyone would be so stupid as to call it racist. I had a feeling these idiots would do this.
Joyless, I can answer the question: No. Anything else?
I know, let’s name it after her: Dumb Friday!
