I suppose Goldwater thought so. Goldwater was a couple of elections ahead of his time. He'd have unprecedented support from the right today.

He had unprecedented support from the Right back then, too. We have 49 million peopl eon food stamps who vote. Wait until it is 69 million.

‘Goldwater was a couple of elections ahead of his time. He'd have unprecedented support from the right today.’
And the Conservatives of today have forums to defend him.
Today, the GOP is the Third Party, it has local candidates and no national presence.
Romney/McCain 2016
Romney/Bush 2016
TWB Bush/Dole 2016
???
I am starting to think that the GOP will not have a national 2016 campaign.
