Because Americans prefer white meat there is always a surplus of dark meat. Russians prefer dark meat and buy much of our surplus dark meat.

Even so, I feed each of my doggies (click on my name to see my dogs) a chicken leg quarter a day. When I started doing that, leg quarters were $0.19 a pound, they are $0.79 a pound now.

Anyway, the $0.19 a pound chicken was when the Ruskies put a temporary tarrif on our chicken imports and our market became saturated with 'dark' meat parts.
