CINCINNATI One of Cincinnatis largest employers fired approximately 150 employees Wednesday for failing to get a required flu shot.
TriHealth offered all of its 10,800 employees free flu shots. Employees had a month to get the flu shot. The deadline was Nov. 16. Employees who did not get the shot were terminated Wednesday, a company spokesperson said...

“Flu kills between 3,000 and 49,000 Americans every year,”
Why yes, i can build that house according to your blueprints. It’ll cost somewhere between 100,000 and 1.6 million when im done.
That's right...if you have been contracted to trim the hedges on the grounds of hospitals in Red Hampshire, Washington, and some other states; flu shot. Refilling the vending machines? Flu shot.
"You're next", indeed.
yes I am a nice boss, I pay very well. Most of my folks make more than I do.
We don’t work onsite much. We’re those evil consultants who come onsite for 3 days and then send a big bill.
Mmm hmmmm. I have had the flu only once since then and it was the Asian flu, which the shot wouldnt have helped anyway.
I would refuse the shot as well. You just never know where it is being manufactured (China anyone?) or what they are putting in it. The people pushing it will freely say that it is a crapshoot as to what type flu it will cover.
It *is* impossible to get the flu from a flu shot, since all of the viruses in the shot are dead. If you got the flu a few days after getting the shot, it was because you were already exposed, or you encountered a flu that wasn't in the shot. It takes about 2 weeks for the flu shot to "kick in" and start protecting you.
The flu shots we receive are NOT being made in China. They are made in the US, Canada, or Europe. You can look it up yourself at the FDA website.
The reason that formulating the flu vaccine is a "crapshoot" is because it is impossible to know, 6 months ahead of time, which of the many flu viruses will be epidemic in the upcoming flu season. Scientists have to look at quite a bit of data and make their best predictions. It's like predicting the weather--sometimes, they are wrong. Still, the vaccine saves millions from getting sick each year.
Those will be going the way of the dodo. Obamacare mandates states achieve 90% vax rates for ALL age groups or federal funding (medicaid) will be withheld. Enjoy it now while you can. Mandatory vaccination (mandated and simultaneously indemnified is a GREAT business model!) is one reason big pharma supported obamacare. You and I will be receiving 5 or more vaccines in ‘14. With at least 2 of them being talked about as annual shots. And the rest of them being ‘updated’ every 3-5 years.
The difference being the number of deaths from flu varies year by year.
OMG! I am actually starting to look forward to these 'death panels'...
This year's vaccine contains H1N1 pandemic, H3N2 Victoria strain, and influenza B Wisconsin (Yamagata). The full strain names are here.
Personally I think the whole vaccine program is a huge brain control experiment. /s
The flu shots contain a specific quantity of dead flu virus, a buffer, and (if it comes from a multi-dose vial) a preservative. You may remove your tin-foil hat now.
I DO love capitalism in this case...
If you take the shot, you’ll be fine, right? If i get the flu, you can laugh at me. But people with a flu are no threat to the ones that get the shot, right? (except in the way that you not exercising daily, might affect me when you miss work due to worsening health)
But aside from the argument that allows you to dictate every detail of my diet, hobbies, and activities, my not taking a shot affects none of the immunized people.
SO why the messianic zeal to force unwilling people to get a shot?
Do PR campaigns, beg, convince, incentivize, reward. But the vaccination crowd is in unfortunate love with the coercive power of government.
Much of their zeal is in their effort to convince themselves of the wisdom of their position, they must turn on the ones who do not agree.
Those of you in the stock market; pay attention.
I have MS, I didn’t get it after a flu shot, but it did present itself within a few months after getting the Hep B vaccine series(I was working in the health field back in the mid-90’s) and Hep B vaccine had become a requirement.
Since MS, I had the flu shot a couple times, and had a pneumonia vaccine, and each time I’d have a vaccine, I’d have an exacerbation. Coincidence, maybe...and only anecdotal, but my neuro said “No more vaccines for you” and that was years ago, I took her advice, and I’ve never gotten the flu.
I get that, too. In fact, I can never tell if I have an allergy or a cold. Looking up the symptoms is no help, either, since they are identical.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help educate people. I see so much misinformation in these threads that sometimes, I just want to throw my hands up in despair. But then I think, if no one tries to whittle away at the mountains of misinformation, then the forces of quackery win. So I keep plugging away, trying to educate people.
Thank God for the polio vaccine, it is beginning to look like this disease may be eradicated within the next few years. My mother-in-law had to wear a brace her whole life because her leg was weakened by polio when she was a child. She was one of the lucky ones. I'm sorry for your cousin.

They also include bits of whatever culture they were grown in (yeast, eggs, dead babies) because you can't entirely remove them via any purification process. Also the live virus versions contain whatever microbes the culture it was grown in might contain. Look up 'SV40 and polio vaccine'. Also 'Pig Wasting Virus' and rotavirus vaccine'. Probably more we haven't identified yet.
We were very lucky with the 2009 pandemic, in that it was a fairly mild virus and "only" about half a million people died. A flu as virulent as the 1918 flu would have been devastating.
I worked as a medical receptionist 17 years ago and we had to have all sorts of shots and tests as a requirement of employment. It was to protect patients and employees. I am phobic when it comes to needles, but, I needed the job. I cannot take anything with sulphur, but any others are fair game. That said, I now avoid them. But, I am not working there now, either.
