Sometime early on Black Friday, the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, went down and stopped all gun sales, Bangor-area gun dealers said.
High call volumes caused intermittent outages in the system, an FBI spokesman confirmed Friday afternoon.

Now how in the world could this happen? Hmmmmm...
More of us than they can keep up with.
We are giving each other some newer models this Christmas....the gift everyone should have.
Just register the dorks that don’t have a gun. ;-)
The actual ad didn't have the "Attention Politicians" text up top... but it sure seems to be the unspoken message.
Great. They can infringe your right to keep and bear arms simply by being incompetent to scale a database.
They have 3 days to give results or else the sale goes through anyway. Think of it as the NICS has 3 days to say no or else it is approved.
I know a rather large gun dealer in Colorado, he says the excuses are all over the board, even that it is 50/50 liberal/conservative buying. People are simply “feeling” the need to be armed and even that feeling is all over the palce.
Cabelas had a great price on a Bushmaster AR .223, it was a flat top with a nice red dot sight pre installed. The deal on 500 rounds of Federal .223 sold out before I got there.
15 years ago one weekend, the government was intentionally holding back approvals on background checks so that they could make some sort of statement for the media.
It was then I applied for and got my CCW which obviates the need to have a background check. The cost of the license ended up saving me a bunch of money over the years because of the number of guns I purchased and didn’t have to spend the $5.....
NICS? I love the show. Mark Harmon is the dreamiest!
I know liberals who have purchased guns since 2008. And some of them wasn’t within the last year, but prior.
They vote with a “guilty” mind but reality says “protect yourself”
Unintended consequences of government regulations?
Unintended being the operative word. Very intended in fact.
Heh-heh...I he’p’d!!!
The Makers are investing their money in firearms rather than stocks or in banks?
I was hoping to see a gun related thread today. Went to a range today for the first time. My gun experience is limited to .22 and shotgun. Looking for a handgun a 9mm but something not so heavy. Hubby fired a CZ (heavy) and I tried a glock 19. It felt pretty good but does anything have advice on something for me. I am a 60 year old woman. Not so much interested in carrying but home protection. Looking for something lighter and easier to handle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I know that *this* maker did just a couple of weeks ago, and it was as much from an investment perspective as from any other perspective (and man did I find a sweet deal .. ready to go get another now!) :)
