Top Republican Senator ditches Norquist anti-tax pledge
A top Republican senator is casting aside an anti-tax pledge he signed, saying that solving the countrys looming fiscal crisis is more important than honoring the decades-old pact.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., broke ranks with other conservatives Wednesday when he made the remarks to a local television station. Chambliss is a member of the Gang of Six, a bipartisan group of senators tasked with finding a solution to the country's fiscal woes.

I agree with him.
Grover’s tax pledge for Federal office holders is a joke. Taxes and spending are not connected.
Grover needs a spending pledge, not a tax pledge at the federal level.
Will the last conservative standing please turn off the light when you leave...
Not sure I will ever vote GOP again...they seem to have RINOITIS and think thats the way to victory...it never brings victory but they have a very slow learning curve apparantly

Could you please tell me what problem will be solved by raising taxes?
Chambliss is a Conservative? News to me.
David Horowitz- But it is not just the Obama administration which has been penetrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, as Horowitz warned that the Republican Party has also been infiltrated thanks to conservative luminary Grover Norquist, whom he said is a practicing Muslim. Norquist is a reviled figure among anti-Muslim activists like Horowitz, who in 2011 lashed out at Norquist from the podium at CPAC, mainly due to the fact his wife is a Muslim-American and he works with Muslim Republicans like Suhail Kahn.
Question:
If the Democrats refuse to allow the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts without raising taxes on the “rich” and the Republicans refuse to allow any tax increases at all, what happens?
Saxby has ALWAYS been a RINO.
Better a new tax pledge from someone who isn’t on his knees servicing the muslim brotherhood like Norky.
You’re right, it would be bad. I guess we should just roll over and play dead once again. It’s worked so well for us in the past.
True. There will never be enough taxes taken in if the spending remains out of control.
The Republicans pass a bill that extends tax cuts for everybody under 250k with minimum payments for everybody so everybody has skin in the game. Then they pass a bill that extends the tax cuts for all small business Chapter S between 250k and 1 million. They then pass a bill that closes tax loopholes for everybody knocking down a million plus. Next bill lowers C Corp tax rates while closing all kinds of loopholes and special giveaways. Then send them to the Senate one at a time.
Same for spending.
Repeat out loud what you just wrote and think upon it for a moment. I've been thinking since the election that we should give them everything they want and say, "Well, Obama won and elections have consequences,....enjoy! When unemployment hits 12%, we can say, "Well, at least we don't have Bush to blame anymore", and so on. When The IED's start to kill children in school, Well, at least Obama has defeated terrorism, ect. At some point, even the stupid get cured. Possibly around 19% unrmployment like under FDR. I guess I should take that back cause Spain is over 25% unemployment and still socialist.
By 2014, the Senate will be ours and the House will be able to overturn veto's. For myself, I'm tired of arguing with morons. Let them lose their jobs.
Why not hold firm on low tax rates for rich? The “fiscal cliff” puts a damper on government spending, which hurts Dems more than Repubs. Obama will crack.
I agree with him also.
And Grover needs to go away and take his pro-sharia policies with him.
I think we should vote to maintain the same tax rates for the rich but I also think that politicians of all stripes cut out exeptions for their pals that nobody else gets. It is a corrupt practice. For instance I ran a S corp business for near 30 years and from the ground up I paid for everybodys health insurance. My health insurance premiums were taxed as regular income while Gates and Buffets were tax deductible because they ran C corps. That kind of crap is assinine.
Who in hell names a kid Saxby anyway?
His full name is Clarence Saxby Chambliss.
NO- His REAL name is Taxme Shameless
I guess his parents really must have hated him. “;^o
