November 22, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) For the fourth year straight, President Obama has omitted any direct statement thanking God in his Thanksgiving address.
In 2009 President Obama made history when he issued the first presidential Thanksgiving proclamation that failed to directly thank God. There was an outcry, and Obamas subsequent proclamations have made prominent mention of God.
However, as Ben Shapiro of Breitbart points out, his Thanksgiving addresses (as opposed to the proclamations), which he reads to the camera, have continued to eschew mention of God.
In his 2012 Thanksgiving address, Obama says that Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for each other, and for the incredible bounty we enjoy.
Today we give thanks for blessings that are all too rare in this world, he continues. The ability to spend time with the ones we love; to say what we want; to worship as we please; to know that there are brave men and women defending our freedom around the globe; and to look our children in the eye and tell them that, here in America, no dream is too big if theyre willing to work for it.
But Shapiro observes that Obamas address excludes mention of the person Americans traditionally give thanks to on Thanksgiving - God. In so doing, he charges, the president has ignored the central message of the holiday.
However, Obamas official proclamation for 2012 does mention God, saying, Let us spend this day by lifting up those we love, mindful of the grace bestowed upon us by God and by all who have made our lives richer with their presence.
In 2009, conservatives noted that both Obamas proclamation and address failed to directly thank God. While the proclamation did obliquely remind readers of the origin of the Thanksgiving celebration - pointing out that George Washington proclaimed our first national day of public thanksgiving to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God the address made no mention of God at all.
In 2010, while again failing to directly thank God in his address, Obama did use the phrase, the God-given bounty of America. But in 2011 there was again no mention of God at all in the address.
Obamas lack of overt religiosity has been a source of controversy, with polls consistently showing that a large number of Americans are unaware that Obama is a Christian, or doubt the claim.
The president previously made history on Inauguration Day by explicitly referencing non-believers in his speech, which, according to USA Today, was the first time in history that a president had done so. Obama has also said on more than one occasion that the United States is not a Christian nation. He has also been criticized for repeatedly misquoting the Declaration of Independence, excluding the word Creator from the famous phrase that declares that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.
In 2011 he created a buzz in the conservative press when he failed to issue an Easter statement, after a year in which he repeatedly commemorated Muslim holidays with a series of statements. He has also been criticized for his rare trips to church, including skipping services on Christmas day, and refusing to publicly celebrate the National Day of Prayer.
The issue is not whether a President has to attend church on a regular basis to be an effective President. They do not, commented Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Washington, D.C. based Christian Defense Coalition, in 2010. The issue is one of integrity and honesty.
To portray yourself as person of deep Christian faith and very involved in the life of the local church during the campaign and then abandon that position after you are elected reduces faith to a commodity and religion to a political tool.
The one confort I do take is that this will give Christians the opportunity to witness to these lost souls the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I am not surprised myself that Obama was re-elected. Sadly his re-election is a sign of how very much divided this country has become.
When you’re an agent of the devil, you don’t mention the competition.
(BO's God is the Collective.)
Why would “won” that believes he is god ever lower himself to give thanks to the true God?
I’m surprised that the speech wasn’t some variation of ,”You’re welcome”.
I know He has a plan. I often try to figure it out. I think maybe it's that the country hasn't known enough hardship yet to see His way?
Maybe it's that the president that will lead us back to prosperity needs the support of more than 52% to accomplish that goal?
What gets me through this dark time is that I know there is a plan. It's not our plan but, there is a plan!
Isn’t his buddy, John Roberts, supposed to administer the ‘oath of orifice’? Or perhaps he’s secured the services of an Imam.
>>Apparently the voters of the late, great USA do not care. The Dems denied God three times on a voice vote at their convention. Obozo is still in the WH. Secession is looking better and better.<<
We are a nation divided; it cannot stand. Peaceful secession now - OR .......

0 is an atheistic materialist. You have to be, to be a good marxist. He has deep and abiding love for the middle eastern cult.
He is not a committed Christian, as his campaign proclaimed.
He may indeed by an atheistic materialist, but having watched his lying mouth flapping for well over four years now, as well as watching what he’s been doing, I conclude that he is also a psycopathic, narcissistic dangerous zombie.
It’s curious that he does mention God in his written remarks, but never mentions Him in the actual broadcast. It’s like he still feels he must provide some recognition of the old faith, but has no intrinsic faith himself, so he prefers to not bring it up in public. Maybe it’s part of transitioning the nation into Godlessness. As originally he would not openly support homosexual marriage, but as the pace of the falling away steps up, he feels more free to abandon the God of Jacob. We’ve probably had Godless leaders before. He’s just the first to come into the open about it, and even then he’s trying to still keep some facade for a time. His aural address was like some dry crust policy statement. It’s going to be tough to be a communist, listening to the endless blah, blah, blah about helping the proletariat from now on. The suicide rate in the Soviet Union must have been high just for people tiring of listening to the endless lying drivel.
George Washington Thanksgiving Day Project.
We have betrayed the legacy of George Washington, in allowing the Office for which he exemplified the highest possible standard, to be so completely defamed! Frankly, we have no right to ask God to forgive us, until we correct the wrong we have done to an American posterity.

Elections have consequences. QED.
He seems to do that a lot doesn’t he.
