Federal labor officials said Tuesday they dont expect to decide before Thursday on whether to seek an injunction on behalf of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to stop a union-backed group from encouraging worker walk-outs that are expected to culminate Friday. Thats the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.
The worlds largest retailer, based in Bentonville, Ark., on Friday filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board against the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. It said the demonstrations organized by union-backed OUR Walmart threaten to disrupt its business and intimidate customers and other store workers.
Meanwhile, OUR Walmart filed its own charge on Tuesday with the labor board. It cited attempts by Wal-Mart to deter workers from participating in what the group believes to be legally protected walkouts.

Walmart did not come up with the idea to start Black Friday on Thanksgiving, but it is hard for them to not follow their competitors.

I was in WM today, picking up some last minute stuff for tomorrow and there were 2 cashiers talking to each other as I approached the check-out.
One asked, "What are you doing tomorrow?" The other answered, "I volunteered to work." The other said, "Oh cool! Me, too!"...and the two were giddy about getting to work together. Keyword here, of course, is "volunteered".
The union jerks just can't believe that a corporation as big as Walmart is allowed to survive without their intervention. I have a niece that works there and she says she knew when she took that job that it wasn't going to provide a "family supporting" wage, but it's enough for her and her husband (also working) to make it. She has few complaints about the work and the company and has been there 7 years. And, from what I can see, Walmart provides jobs for lots of people who, many times, would find it difficult finding a job elsewhere.
I'm not huge WM fan, but I'm not against them, either. These occutards who are egging this on (union's useful idiots) use the mantra "buy local", but we know it has nothing to do with that for them.
Expect to hear a "mic check" or two on the news tomorrow.

Fire them? What if they close? Then we’ll be deprived of news reports of the new American tradition. Seeing obese people skipping Thanksgiving to wait in line and bumrush WalMart, trampling over little old ladies and children to save $50.00 on a TV.

Looks like Junior Walton isn’t getting much return on investment from the money that he put into Obama.

Im working tomorrow and Im not even in a union... Same here. I've worked more holidays than I've taken off.
One of the things I'm thankful for. That I have a job that I love and can set my own hours.
Can actually get some work done without interruptions

Knowing my sister, shes probably grabbing all the overtime she can. I know thats what I always did when I was still at the factory. What a minute! You guys put in overtime and actually get paid for it?! Try being hired under the labor category "salaried exempt". My life for the last 22 years.

Right on. When Wal-Mart opens a store, they usually have about 10 applicants for every position available. They could fire all of the walk-outs and have them replaced by noon on Friday.

they usually have about 10 applicants for every position available. Liberals make it sound like a job at WM is barely better than slavery. Makes you wonder why with Baraq's "great recovery" that so many would want to be there.

Orchestrated thuggery...Bakers, retail, LAX airline workers...alll come with their grievances within weeks of the election. Adjusting tinfoil hat...but is there a pattern here? And throw in an attack on Israel as a test.
Gird your loins...as some buffoon once said.

If no one shows up, it doesn’t matter if you open early.
The demand for the best deals for the upcoming shopping ‘season’ prompts retailers like Wal-Mart to try and satisfy their customers.
If there was no customer demand, then Wal-Mart would not be opening on Thanksgiving night. Period.
