From Joe Scarborough to John Heilemann, Katty Kay to Mark Halperin to Willie Geist, it was unanimous on today's Morning Joe. Whatever the substance, whatever the policy, Republicans would be making a massive political mistake by opposing the possible nomination of Susan Rice as Secretary of State.
Summed up Scarborough the MJ zeitgeist: "do a bunch of old white guys want to make their first big battle, post-election, a battle going up against a younger woman of color?" View the video after the jump.
JOHN HEILEMANN: The optics are obviously horrible, taking on an African-American woman in this way.
Welcome to the 21st century, where EVERYTHING is about nothing but someones skin color. My, we have made a lot of progress, eh? sarc/
Is Scarecrow Joe still on TV?
Whatever Rice’s gender or color, she was a willing liar to the American people...and that is the issue, they want to ignore.
..... I think this incident could be used as a shining example of what is wrong with the GOP, Conservatives and anybody else out there complaining about the results of the last election. Case in point ..... observe who is talking about that statement made by the DNC Chair about the GOP: "...They Got Whiter and More Male..." Observe who is speaking out against that statement ..... Is it anybody in elected office .... Heck, except on very rare occasions, does anybody in elected office ever voice any displeasure about anything verbally puked out by the Dems? The answer is .... NO!
.... Unfortunately .... our elected officials seem to make a very concerted effort to only allow the conservative talking heads and talk show hosts portray any verbal defense or do any vocal dismay about anything said by the Liberals, Progressives aka Democrats. The problem with that is ..... the points of views put forth by the talk show hosts et al .... are for the most part preaching to the choir and not getting out into the public forum as well as it would if it was spoken on the House or Senate floors.
.... On the other side, the Dems always rally ALL of their machinery to do any vocal defense or displeasure .... including their elected officials. In fact 99% of the time they do this so efficiently by getting their talking points out almost immediately after an incident or event ... they seem to consistently have the ability to efficiently frame the argument and force the GOP on the defensive. And even then ..... the GOP elected officials refrain from making any comment and wait ..... and wait .... for the talking heads and talk show hosts to voice any conservative response. My guess is that they do this to see how the public reacts to the statements before they even squeak out an insipid statement. In short probably an effort to protect their crappy job instead of growing some brass ones and actually taking a stance on the floor of House or Senate or any place for that matter.
... IMO If the GOP ever hopes to regain anything and expect to ever re-educate the public about the constitution and the need for conservative principles... there will have to be a rapid response team set in motion to voice conservative talking points and principles to the public ears instead of only speaking to the choir members when relying only on the talking heads and talk show hosts.
On the other hand they perpetually remind minorities how good they have it, NOW.. and that they should hump the leg of every Liberal politician from now on ... performing this act with servile and dehumanizing adoration!!
The Liberals have had it both ways for so long that no one questions the glaring absence of logic in any of this!!
I guess if your constituency is THIS docile and easily led, you can get and keep their allegiance with completey dishonest, intellectual clap trap!
On a good day Fox News’ Democrat Bob Beckel is more republican than Joe Scarborough and THAT is telling.
Liberalism is too nice of a word for what's coming.
Joe, YOU are an old white guy. Times for your Obama death panel.
Sick to death of being called racist when an inept liar is presented as a viable candidate for any office! I judge people on their character and behavior, not their skin color!

Race trumps ethics. Race trumps national security. Race trumps the Constitution. Is there anything left that race doesn’t trump?
I, being older than most Freepers, have been there- being sick to death of the unwarranted charge of "racism". I know what it is to know within oneself, of a hurtful smear, used as an almost irrefutable weapon. Now what I have been able to do it this.
(1) Explore what the spitefulness does to one's inner soul
(2). Weigh up the cretins who use this spite, coupled with their mentality.
(3) Walk or turn away with a serene awareness of one's own real inner beliefs.
(4) Leave the cretins to stew in their own bile, never mind them anymore.
Please excuse my ramble, but I have adopted this stance and even laugh at the cretins.
