Nearly 100 House Republicans on Monday called on President Obama not to nominate Susan Rice as Secretary of State.
In a letter to Obama, the 97 Republicans said the credibility of the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations has been gravely wounded by her account of the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
"Though Ambassador Rice has been our Representative to the U.N., we believe her misleading statements over the days and weeks following the attack on our embassy in Libya that led to the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans caused irreparable damage to her credibility both at home and around the world," Republicans wrote in their letter, which was led by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) and sent to Obama Monday. Stevens and the three others were killed in an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.
The letter says Rice "propagated a falsehood" that the attacks were a spontaneous response to a video that depicted the Prophet Muhammed.

If not Susan Rice, it’ll be some other disaster, so it’s a wash. The 97 Republicans are wasting their time.
I think the effort is an exercise in futility.
As the article says...
If Obama were to nominate Rice, it would be up to the Senate to confirm her, not the House. But the House Republican letter mirrors some of the Senate Republican criticism of Rice that has emerged.
Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said they would work to block the nomination in the Senate. But hey, they’ll have to avoid having a recess because Obama WILL make the recess appointment ( he already did that once ).
Elections have consequences.
Nearly 100? That’s it? The GOP-e is an awful outfit.
She was just saying what her boss told her to say.
Now the Republicans will be called racist.
And Pubbies should “Tower” a Kerry nomination.
97 Of ‘em agreed on SOMETHING?
This will give O more of a reason to nominate her, just to stick it in their faces.
I bet they just talked him into it.
Alinsky tactics require conflict to work.
.....in a sense of bipartisanship and as a result of the newly ever so popular reelected President’s benevolence, Mr Odungo will tell them to stuff it up their collective arses.
Within a week will appoint John F’n Kerry to head the DoD
Yes, but they won’t.
Which is almost the same thing as daring him to nominate her, so you know he will.
We're all supposed to just sit there and watch as ACCOUNTABILITY DISAPPEARS due to race cards, gender cards and LGBT cards.. Marxist Elena Kagan had NEVER been approved for SCOTUS had she not been a lesbian. 0bama chose her because she is protected by the LGBT and gender card. It's time to stop being AFRAID TO BE CALLED NAMES! This is the chief culprit in America's destruction starting with black 0bama; Americans' expectations of their leaders are held hostage by 'class cards' wielded by the enemy.
You are correct. They won’t, but they should. Gutless.
why not the same 97 repubs send a letter to odumbo encouraging his highness to have Rice resign and all democratic polticians to work for $1.00 a month. The senate has yet to pass a budget in 3 plus years and the Nancy Puglosi needs to payback the taxpayers for all her flowers and Evian water. Save a buck have all politicians be on a budget of $1.00 a month.
Yes I know this will promote corruption. What about the corruption that is already happening with the $175,000 a year salary?
What’s to stop Obama from making the appointment during Christmas recess?
Heck, with this bastard, he might get silly and skip it all, rename the position and appoint her to America’s first “Czar of State”.
Then, Obama will look at the republicans, smile and tell them to take it to court...... over 50% of America will applaud.... and judge Roberts will nod.
The time to tell Obama ‘no’ was on election day, and every day proceeding that day, for 4 long years.
