Republican talking points should be, “obamacare forces a 25% pay reduction for many employees.”
I am actually starting to think the goal was to get most companies to decrease weekly hours for their employees to 29 hours.
Remember the 40 hour work week was created during the great depression to decrease the unemployment rate (everyone works fewer hours, enabling others to work those needed hours). This is a backdoor way of achieving a 29 hour work week, and making the companies look like the bad guys in the process.
“Was the goal here to get as many people as possible 100% reliant on government healthcare? “
Yes
Part of me thinks Obama is welcoming this and is really gonna enjoy it.
A big, loud, Marxist vilification campaign against Eeeeeeeevil Grrrrrrrreeedy Corporations can only serve to further cement his position with the cretin voter.
King Obama will just drop the cutoff from 30 hours worked to 20 hours worked.
Then, he will just eliminate the minimum requirement totally.
Eventually he will require paid Obamacare for anyone on the books as an employee during the year - even if they only worked 10 minutes.
For the average person who has one of these jobs, it really means a 58 hour week since they now need two jobs.
I hope Pizza Hut will be informing their employees why their hours are being cut...
Liberals will NEVER question their law. A rational person would say “gee, our law isn’t working. Let’s repeal it.”
But liberals are not rational persons. When one of their laws doesn’t work, (none of them do) the liberal says “got to strengthen the law.”
And so, their response to this will be to change the number of hours required from 30 to 25. That law will not work either, and so they will change it to 20.
When it gets to 5, they will have achieved their goal of a socialist paradise, in which everyone is equally poor except the political ruling class elite, which will just laugh.
We are now France.
Just wait.....now the company needs 4 employees to do the work previously done by 3. Presto! Unemployment goes down.

“”For the average person who has one of these jobs, it really means a 58 hour week since they now need two jobs.””
I wonder if more jobs will just become salaried, where hours worked becomes a lot more blurry.
The new norm...until Congress passes legislation that anyone working more than 20 hours per week is deemed as a full time employee, at which time the companies will begin instituting 19 hour work weeks and again Congress will pass legislation that anyone working more than 10 hours per week is deemed to be a full time employee at which time companies will simply replace as many people with processes, systems and machines as possible.
Imagine the unintended consequences of politicians where pizza delivery (and their jobs) becomes a nostalgic piece of the past to be replaced by a Red Box style of kiosk where one picks up a heated pre-made pizza. Mmmmmm mmmmm gooood!
Remember that these are mostly franchises, doing what they have to do to survive economically
Unexpectedly of course!
I predict a regulation in response to all these companies going to shorter work weeks. It will provide that if an employee has worked over 30 hours per week for 5 weeks in the past year, they are a fulltime worker, even if their hours have been cut back. Obama is not going to allow employers to play games. After that, they will forbid firing workers if they claim you are doing it to avoid health care costs, if your company can afford it. They will determine what a fair profit is. We are only getting started on this road.
end sarcasm.
