"It's nuts," Gingrich told guest host Martha Raddatz on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday. "First of all, it's insulting. This would be like Wal-Mart having a bad week and going, 'The customers have really been unruly.' I mean, the job of a political leader in part is to understand the people. If we can't offer a better future that is believable to more people, we're not going to win."

Regardless on ones opinion of whether or not Romney or Gingrich/Insert Name was right...I'm tired of this double standard.
Actors. Gigs. These TV “guests” must say something that’ll get some-a-use excited if they want to be invited again and... paid. It’s shoe biz, after all. Someone wrote recently and negatively about “entertainment” jocks such as Rush Limbo and others worshipped here, and got destroyed on these pages, not for the negative view of them, I reckon, but for the word “entertainment”.
As for Romney, he should have said something earlier, should have exposed Obamao’s shananigans during the campaign, during the debates when it counted, but he ran not to lose, or perhaps not to lose big. And lost.
That's just what Romney tried to do. This election result wasn't a problem with Romney the candidate or his themes.
It was about turning voters out and many even here on FR refused to vote for the one man who could stop Obama from getting a second term in 2012. Some did so, proudly, because of ridiculous reasons like his Mormon faith or his prochoice comments decades ago. They threw a tantrum because it wasn't Santorum and returned the advocate of infanticide to the Oval Office.
Romney just couldn't win over enough people still 'shell shocked' by "Bush's fault" to overcome those who stayed home. He also had the "historical nature" of Obama's presidency to overcome although I think he was closer to doing it than we realize.
THOSE are the people who shoulder the blame here. So-called conservatives who are nothing but loud mouthed, holier-than-thou cowards. They will gleefully sabotage a victory for petty reasons.
Newt's right, and as you can see, many here don't want to hear what he's saying.
And here I am two weeks later still waiting for even one of the Akin apostles to apologize and admit to being wrong about his chances of winning in MO. Romney easily won, as he did in Indiana and at least two other states where the US Senate candidates fell short of his votes by 10s or 100s of thousands of votes. It wasn't a "GOPe" or Rovian conspiracy that sunk Akin or Mourdock, it was the arrogant, sanctimonious candidates themselves.
Based on the ‘knee jerking’ to the Rommey gifts comments, I’d say there is some truth them.
I am with Mitt all the way on this one. GtH, Gingrich.
Gotta threesome here.....
We don't know for certain the % though, he should never divided the country before they voted. People took sides, don't you get it, politically. There is always fraud. That is why they say it's the party who brings out their base, will win. That is reality. We need the base next election or we are pretty much done.
Not to worry....the markets will solve all.....and God forfend us all when it decides to do so!!!
I disagree. If nothing else, you turn off most women with anything but happy talk. Have you not observed that? And that’s before all the people the comments apply to.
At this point, there are more parasites and parasite sympathizers than producers. And that’s not going to change, so its all downhill from here. The only way it does change is if the System totally collapses. Then you will have a big shakeout in general, but especially among the naive Libs and anyone who depends on a Government handout to survive.
The conservative movement is full of Judases and Pontius Pilate cowards.
Rather than embrace the writing on the wall that 'providential' candidate Todd Akin was a lost cause which everyone from Jim DeMint to Sarah Palin to Mark Levin to Karl Rove and Mitt Romney understood, they instead attacked these truth tellers and smeared them as abortion-loving, GOPe tools.
We have our own modern day Pharisees to battle.
Where's the acceptance they were wrong? Where's the apology? There is none. They go back into their bunker to self-congratulate and fling spears and arrows at those trying to defeat the radical Left while being flawed human beings in their effort.
And you'll see these types all over this thread. They are saboteurs, false conservatives and ultimately cowards.
Nah, it’s worse than Adult ADD. I actually have that, and it causes me to misplace my car keys and forget if I’ve taken my supplemtns, but it doesn’t make one forget his princples.
That’s a far more dread disease. Patomac Fever.
I think we are done Christie. With the GOP doing this idiotic move to the left, I can tell you that I see no need to support them.
With elected people saying we need to appeal to certain demographic groups...well, they are not appealing to me, so good luck to them, I suppose.
“. . .if the System totally collapses. Then you will have a big shakeout in general, but especially among the naive Libs and anyone who depends on a Government handout to survive.”
IF??
When it collapses there will be a sea change and a paradigm shift, which has already occured for anyone with basic household economic sense. Living on borrowed money brings destruction of the system.
That Romney did not articulate that, brings us to where we are.
2016 will be tremndously different. Why didn’t Romney explain that?
Because he was not a Conservative running to help the country, maintain the Union, protect the Constitution.
He was going after the lib voters instead of giving up on the 47% that he should have done. Then forecast for them what is goin gto happen so that when it does, they won’t blame squishy B. Jindal, Newt, Romney, Bush republicans, which they will do.
For your information, I supported Todd AKin, and I do not even agree with his position on abortion.
I supported him for having the balls to stand up for what he believes in.
I don’t support the GOP any longer, because the GOP no longer supports me or my country.
And if that means the democrats sweep elections, then so the hell what, that’s what they do anyway.
We lost because it’s difficult to compete when our message, notably the correct one, is work hard, be frugal, work hard some more and put in extra hours, rise on your skills and talents. And their message is mean old Republicans don’t want you to have anything; here take an Obama Phone and we’ll tax the rich to pay for it.
Hey Newt, I love ya to death but Its the freebies stupid.
To me, Romney was not geared within to balance leadership while promoting conservatism. He would had been better than Obama though millions could not vote for him. That is a powerful message to the GOP-e. Will they listen?! I don’t know, Chris. Many in the beltway are running scared; that their majority is being taken away.. so they are running scared. They should not do that. They should be proud to defend the conservative roots of this country. I am not saying we need to move to lie/promise to groups for votes. We need to show other diverse groups conservatism. If they come over, great-if not, don’t move away from your convictions. This can be done/advance a cause without losing your core beliefs. We do need to advance into other neighborhoods that are not particularly fond of us. Not to give away promises but to advance the ideas that we cherish. It can be done with the right man or woman. We do not have a national leader. Many don’t like Newt for the marriage thing though promote life to God in forgiveness. I don’t get the double standard there. I just want Newt ( a person like him as a reformer) to move the country back on the right track. It looks very heartbreaking to what people in power are allowing to occur to America. We are such a wonderful nation and set up by the rule of law. How can people teach others to respect the law when they cast aside the laws themselves. The elected repubs should be making an inquiry for Obama’s impeachment, will that happen? One representative should begin this..vs. being more concerned about reelection/job security. ( Mitt’s not all to blame no doubt here) Take care, Chris.
Nice summary. You will be stoned by the credulous cultists in due course for it.
