Hey GOP, take the Palin cure
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 18, 2012 | Charlotte Allen

The Republican Party has been doing a lot of hand-wringing and finger-pointing since the presidential election. Half the conservative columnists and bloggers say the GOP lost because it overemphasized social issues such as abortion and gay marriage. The other half says the party didn't emphasize them enough. And everyone denounces Project ORCA, the campaign's attempt to turn out voters via technology.

But I've got a suggestion for cutting short the GOP angst: Sarah Palin for president in 2016.

You think I'm joking? Think again.

Ronald Reagan didn’t have 19 baseless ethics complaints filed against him, complaints that by state law had to be paid for out of Palin’s own pocket. Democratic operatives intentionally tried to destroy her with baseless complaints, knowing she could not afford to pay to defend herself against all of them.

When her appointees began to suffer financially due to the vendetta against her, she removed herself to save THEM from financial ruin.

You need to educate yourself on what the Dems and GOP elite did to Palin. It was criminal.

I don’t know how true it is, but it was said that the Romney camp was behind some of the smears and trash digging on Sarah. If so, he reaped what he sowed. Yes, I would have rather had Mitt than Zero, but, just saying..........He also deliberately left her out of the RNC and the Paulbots too. THat’s why he lost so many GOP voters. I’m not a huge fan of Ron Paul, but he did have quit a significant following that should have been brought into the tent.

GOP turnout will end up higher than 2008 once all the votes are counted.

LOL, what a hope.

2008 was after two terms of Bush and national exhaustion, and during a recession, as an old guy with no money ran against history, and a deity, and the first black president, in one of those throwaway elections.

2012 was the man with all the money and the chips, running against Carter the 2nd, during almost a depression, and the hope is that Romney 'equaled' McCain?

That is pathetic.

Ronald Reagan never quit his office.

He might have if he was put in the same situation. She sacrificed for the good of Alaska.

Thanks for posting. I’ve thought that an Obama re-election makes a Palin presidency more not less likely. After four years of Obama it will not be republican moderation people are begging for. Palin if she decides to pursue a serious run has the qualities that gives liberals problems. She has a working class appeal while being a solid conservative.

Yet Palin is the new Reagan to the conservative movement that she leads and represents.

What a ray of sunshine that her victories are in 2012, after what your man Romney, the Massachusetts Governor did to us.

Go Ted Cruz, Go Deb Fischer, and all you congress people that she supported.

That Romney thing just isn’t working out for you is it?

What influence do you think that he will bring to 2014, and what influence do you think that Governor Palin will bring to 2014?

Palin represents the right of the GOP.

Romney represents the left of the GOP.

Who’s agenda and efforts do you support for 2014?

“GOP turnout will end up higher than 2008 once all the votes are counted.”

You mean, like all the military votes that won’t be counted by obamas criminal enterprise?

I don’t know how true it is, but it was said that the Romney camp was behind some of the smears and trash digging on Sarah.

The worst attacks on Palin, when they came from Repubs, the Repub almost always turned out to be a romniac.

Similarly, the worst attacks on the tea party, when they came from Repubs, the Repub almost always turned out to be a romniac.

I don't know that Romney was behind it. But Repubs who attacked Palin and Repubs who attacked the tea party almost always were Romney supporters.

This is a big reason it was so tough for some conservatives to get behind Romney. Well, that, and his record in Massachusetts. I voted for him in the general but it meant eating some of my words from earlier on when I had said I'd never vote for the guy. I learned to like Romney during the election, but I still don't like romniacs. They can take a flying leap.

Some Republicans will say Palin has too much baggage from 2008

Her baggage is our baggage. McCain, and the GOP establishment.

And that’s the closest link that can be posited without specific evidence of those in the inner Romney campaign being sent on destroy missions. RINOs liked Romney, RINOs disdained Sarah. That’s a given. But I’ve seen it accused so many times that Romney sent mercenaries to “get” Sarah. I’d just want to see some reason to believe that beyond suspicion. Romney frankly strikes me as semi-clueless about actual politics.

The single most important individual responsible for conservative gains of the last 4 years, is having concrete accomplishments.

I only hope her success continues, we need her in 2014.

Romney quit his party also, people forget that he turned against the GOP and left the party because of conservatism and Reagan.

Sarah needs to become good at something besides
cheerleading if she should desire to be taken
seriously next presidential election. She should
join a think tank and do some research on economic
issues and/or foreign relations.

I would love to throw all my support behind her but
the media will destroy her if nothing develops within
her. I know it makes many folks angry but it is true.
I believe that it was the MSM and Romney’s failure
to handle the MSM that did him in. Had the media been
neutral Romney would have won by 10-15 percent. Well,
the media was, is, and will be much harder on Palin
than they ever were on Romney. And, don’t think for
a moment that the MSM will be that much closer to
death in 2016 than it is now.

Palin is no Ronald Reagan by a long shot. RR did his
homework, governed one of the strongest economic en-
tities in the world for two terms, and ran against
one the weakest incumbent presidents in US history in
1980.
