I think Brooks is way off-base here.

The Wayans brothers or Dave Chappelle could make a movie today that would make "Blazing Saddles" look like a feel-good nostalgia film for the Civil Rights movement.

And no, it wouldn't involve "anti-white racism," either. It would look like something the Ku Klux Klan would produce.

I was going to mention Chappelle.

His show had some of the most politically incorrect sketch comedy since Mel Brooks/Richard Pryor. And he got a lot of pressure from within the black community for it. Making sport of the cracker is perfectly acceptable, but don't ever turn a spotlight on the failings of black culture.

He was/is a brilliant social satirist.
