WASHINGTON David H. Petraeus, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, told lawmakers on Friday that classified intelligence reports revealed that the deadly assault on the American diplomatic mission in Libya was a terrorist attack, but that the administration refrained from saying it suspected that the perpetrators of the attack were Al Qaeda affiliates and sympathizers to avoid tipping off the groups.
Mr. Petraeus, who resigned last week after admitting to an extramarital affair, said the names of groups suspected in the attack including Al Qaedas franchise in North Africa and a local Libyan group, Ansar al-Shariah were removed from the public explanation of the attack immediately after the assault to avoid alerting the militants that American intelligence and law enforcement agencies were tracking them, lawmakers said. . .

“Just why arent these multiple Pinnochios in prison.”
Because they run the prison.
Turns out it's really U-Boats that make things bad.
Wow! So not to tip off terrorists, they put the blame on a private citizen? That is downright frightening!
They were running weapons! I have watched every hearing possible, the experts brought in have countered EVERY excuse so far! The hearings this past week, the embassy security experts seem dumbfounded that everything about Benghazi went against normal recommendations that should have been followed.
And lets not forget his other National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, a former lobbyist and Fannie Mae lawyer. NO intelligence, military or foreign policy experience at all. He did however make MILLIONS just before the Fannie/Freddie collapse!
Yep! I lost all respect for him the minute he took over Astan and did NOT do a thing to change the ROE for our troops.
Let me get this right....
Obama boasts “ we will hunt down those responsible for this”
I guess everyone in the world should be scared, as he won’t name “ those”
We all know the group Obama wanted to keep in the dark is called the American People. This new excuse is an admission of the obvious: that his administration deliberately misled the public, and the legislative branch. Is a redeemed by having a good reason? There are only two alternatives:
1) Obama really thought it was smart to hide the fact that we knew who-dun-it from the people who bragged about doing it on their website for all to see. It would make the world think we were a smart, competent superpower, a and credible ally, if we put out a transparently false alternative to the real facts that international news media were broadcasting everywhere. Anyone who thinks this way is too stupid to be President of a dung heap.
2) Obama wanted to prevent his administration’s incompetence, policy failures, and worse, from having a decisive effect on the election, by giving the sycophant media an alternative narrative to pretend to believe. Anyone who subordinates national security to his own ambition is not fit to be President.
Either way, Obama’s continuation in office is a danger to the U.S. He must resign.
I saw some Dem saying that Petraeus told the committee that the CIA talking points was about the 'video.' The exact opposite of what everyone else was saying about Petraeus' testimony. This NYTs article is probably sourced from some Dem liar.
I have made the same observations. The demorats are so damn sneaky in all they do. Sen. Feinstein for instance talks a good story as how she wants to get at the bottom of this travesty, then plays up to the dozens of mikes held in her face by the Pravda morons. Their all scared $hitless that things could progress to the point the House has no alternative then to proceed with impeachment charges.
It is and will continue to be a disgusting display but I really don’t think it’s going to go away.
Likewise. To much has been exposed at this point.
Agreed!
They’re all liars.
God bless and keep you.
The People know where the guilty are. Go to the top and work ones way down. Though the legal system never allows mostly. The reverse, bottom up, is where the legal system makes its money. Wouldn't want hungry attorney's would we?
Yes, you remind us of a very important fact which SHOULD be the essential thing any discussion of Benghazi, over and above the blame and obfuscations and cover-ups should center on-and that is that
THE WHOLE THING WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF MUBARAK STILL RAN EGYPT!
