The BBC has apologized to the chief rabbi, Jonathan Sacks, after Radio 4s Today presenter Evan Davis asked him a question about the violence in Gaza without telling him he was live on air.
When Sacks finished his Thought for the Day on Friday morning, Davis asked him to comment on the Gaza situation before he left the studio.
Sacks, seemingly unaware that he was live, said I think its got to do with Iran, actually, before Davis co-presenter Sarah Montague whispered: We, were live.

Is this supposed to be surprising? The Hamas/Iran connection is well kown.
It is bad to tell the truth.
The media should warn people that they are on the air — that way the experts can avoid telling the truth and just stick to pablum.
It sounds like the rabbi and the presenter were both unaware the mikes were still live. Just a simple silly mistake. It happens. I don’t see why the Rabbi should be embarrassed anyway. After all, the situation in Gaza almost certainly IS being effected by Iran.
I think it has to do with Iran as well. Iran’s mad mullahs provide the arms to those who do the killings. They use proxies against Israel, Iraq, the Syrian people, the Lebanese people, the Saudis, the Afghans, the Bahrain, the US, and the Iranian people who want to be free. So it’s not an odd idea at all when these missiles produced in Iran and smuggled into Gaza as to who is instigating this most reason round of strife.
I think it's got to do with Iran, actuallyWow, he really let the cat out of the bag that time, eh?
Nearly 2500 arrests in two months in just one Iran province: official
executions are reaching a new high there
The nutjob is on a plan of his own...and I absolutely believe he is ultimately behind the recent attacks on Israel .
The Iran connection my be something entirely different. Israel needs to clean out Hamas’ stock of rockets in preparation for an attack on Iran. Because when Israel attacks Iran, Gaza will be used as a launching pad to counterattack. But if Hamas’ rocket supply is depleted, that threat is eliminated.
