Although it is a big longshot, and his relations with his wife and family must be just about shot--if still intact--why what would REALLY give the White House and Obongo the ever-loving Hershey Squirts would be to see Mrs. David Petraeus, stoic and brave faced, holding her husband's hand as he comes in to testify before the Senate in closed Session, and then sitting behind him the whole time, nodding approval. That would take a huge heart, maybe even the immense grace of God and His Spirit of forgiveness, but would I ever like to see a) reconciliation in that family, and b) Hershey Squirts of nervousness in the West Wing. It must be made very, very clear to the White House and the Chicago game boys, very hard ball guys indeed, that this fellow is beyond blackmail and is way out there now. Make them sweat. Time for some sincere prayer.
