If youre in Florida and planning to join in on the Papa Johns buycott scheduled for this Friday, you might want to save some room for dessert and hit Dennys afterward. A West Palm Beach restaurant owner is the latest target of a boycott campaign after floating the idea of adding a 5 percent Obamacare surcharge to customer checks starting in 2014.
Franchisor John Metz told the Huffington Post that “although it may sound terrible that I’m doing this, it’s the only alternative. I’ve got to pass the cost on to the consumer.” In August, Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter was among the first to come under fire for suggesting that implementing Obamacare would entail costs that would have to be passed on to customers.
Applebee’s has also been targeted for a boycott, although the company was quick to point out via a Twitter post that comments about a possible hiring freeze were me by an independent franchisee..

The boycotters demanded they just raise prices to compensate didn’t they? Well that Denny’s is simply complying.
Did they really think the company could simply absorb the loss?
Liberals are just dumb.
Live with the results of your irresponsibly you liberal scumbags...All this bad economy will directly be passed onto you!
“Did they really think the company could simply absorb the loss?”
Loss? its only money
Of course they did. That is precisely what they thought they should do.
the leftist solution to all problems seems to be to hurt businesses.
I has never ceased to amaze me that the libtard apartment renters will vote to raise property taxes because they do not think it affects them.
But lo and behold their rent goes up to pay for it! This has been going on for so long before Obamacare and they never have figured it out.
If these company are all of a sudden losing money, then they ain’t paying much in taxes, are they? ObamaCare might get funded until they go about of business, but tax revenue is going to take a dive if companies try to absorb losses.
floating the idea of adding a 5 percent Obamacare surcharge to customer checks starting in 2014
and 25 % not paying attention tax for people who voted for Obama
And other people's money is E-Vil.
As soon as the lib media reports this, this guy’s sales are going to sky-rocket.
Best advertising ever
Liberals are idiots..anyone go goes after their precious messiah gets boycotted. Screw them, I love Papa Johns Pizza and will be ordering one for dinner tomorrow
They work off a 3% profit margin. Obamacare will cost them more than that.
Bill Clinton told Herman Cain years ago all he would have to do is add a few cents to each pizza to cover HillaryCare.
All liberals are naive. What did they expect? I have a friend that’s a lib, and he has no idea how this could happen. He also bitches about the 1% and all that. He gets a bit angry when I start listing all the lib billionaires. As though they are exempt. It’s so fun to prove how ridiculous his position is.
In the liberal mind I guess it should all be free. Free health care, free pizza, and free Denny’s.
Living the Dream instead of living reality. Going to be tough when reality comes crashing down on their pointy little heads.
“when I start listing all the lib billionaires”
That is so true. I would like to know how rich people break out politically when you rank them by wealth. I would bet that the 5-20 million class are overwhelmingly R. These are the people who started small businness and did well with them. They have lots of money, but they are still connected to the real world. Above that, I would guess that they start disconencting from the real world and become more liberal.
Just my take on it.
With all the companys who will have to cut wages and hours, you won’t have enough places left for liberals to eat.
I like the guy’s sentiment, but he can’t pass the cost on to the customer. That is a popular economic sophism. There is an inverse relationship between price and demand, therefore the cost will be carried back to the origin of production. Which means less Dennys employees.
Unless the demand curve is unaffected by the price increase, in which case they haven’t been charging enough in the past.
