The list of words MSNBC's Chris Matthews believes are racist if uttered by a conservative got longer on Wednesday.
You can now add "urban" which offended Matthews when Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) said it during an interview Monday, but didn't bother the Hardball host in the slightest when Salon's Joan Walsh said it on his own program two days later (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
"There's more of this dog whistle crap going on," said Matthews before he introduced guests Walsh and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Cynthia Tucker.
Really? So if a conservative talks about urban, suburban, and ex-urban voters just like anyone else might, he or she is being racist?
Do only blacks live in cities in America? There are no whites in Manhattan, Boston, or Philadelphia?
Apparently not.
But the really delicious part came a few moments later when Walsh referred to urban and suburban voting areas without a squawk from Matthews.
"Paul Ryan lost his home district, lost his city, his hometown, let's just say that, which is not a particularly urban place," Walsh said without any pushback from Matthews.
If “Urban” is racist, then “suburban” would be a hateful slur. Like calling someone subhuman.
It’s time for him to invite Newt on so Newt can take him down (again). They are so giddy about their gay agenda; they can’t stop showing their true colors.
Can he just go somewhere like to the looney ward. I guess my painters that just painted my house called urban painters are racist however I am not sure how that is possible they are all Mexicans.
I think we should start using the word FERAL, liberally in our arguments.
He is such a tool. A homosexual tool for the left.
Oh, let’s REALLY get Tingles’ panties twisted and go for the full monty:
“One must not MONKEY AROUND with CHAIRS in URBAN CHICAGO while eating WATERMELON!”
Matthews simply needs to be ignored. All but dozens on any given night do just that. He has no influence on opinionmaking, even in this country.
lolz
Is this racist? Paging RaccoonRadio (our resident radio expert):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_contemporary
Urban contemporary is a music radio format. The term was coined by the late New York DJ Frankie Crocker in the mid-1970s. Urban contemporary radio stations feature a playlist made up entirely of hip hop, R&B, pop, house, electronica such as dubstep and drum and bass (often with hip hop vocalists or rappers) and Caribbean music such as reggae, reggaeton, zouk, and sometimes Soca (In Toronto, London, New York City, Boston and Miami).
Urban League
Urban Outfitters
Urban Cammo
Urban Combat
Urban Turbans... okay, never mind
Time to ban the ‘U’ word pronto!
I honestly believe that the media members are all gay. Their refusal to cover the news is their revenge on heterosexuals.
I don’t give a damn what happens to any of them. I’m just going to sit back and watch the Kenyan implode.
Urban areas with a high black population helped elect Obama. That is a plain old fact and Matthews just needs to shut up.
If Matthews can’t shut up about it, he needs to go interview live on the streets at 9pm in these urban areas, ask them how they voted. No security allowed, either.
Go do it whitebread chubbette or SHUT UP with your racist mantra!
