Ground has been broken in the heart of Philadelphias Gayborhood for a housing project that will serve the needs of the LGBT community.
Its described as the first urban project of its kind six floors of low income housing for elderly lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders.
Its being built with a mixture of local, state and federal funds. And that was reflected by the number of politicians on hand for Fridays ceremony.
Mayor Michael Nutter was joined by his predecessors, John Street and Ed Rendell.
Once completed, this project will provide 56 units of affordable housing to people 62 years and older. The facility will be energy efficient, generating more than five percent of the total energy that it uses from within the building, Nutter explained.
The building will be named after the late City Councilman John Anderson, who was instrumental in the passage of a civil rights bill for those in the sexual minority.
The doors are expected to open at the end of next year.

Sexual orientation is not one of the 7 protected classes under Federal Law. Although, if you’re a “Realtor” (trademark) it is one of the 8 protected classes under the Realtor Code of Ethics
Why does this put one in mind of the tale of the Cities on the Plain?
Good for them. Nice to see Philly be inclusive.
Wouldnt a gay only housing project violate civil rights laws which prevent discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation?

Of course not!
The discrimination clause ‘kicks in’ when one of ‘them’ DEMAND to live in your house just because you posted a ‘room’ for rent.
Of course, when they are ‘grouped’ and the novelty wears off, ‘they’ can see why WE didn’t want them in the first place.
Same thing different venue.
How about Miami/Dade Cty sticking it to the taxpayers (370mil for a 500+- mil) for the baseball stadium and the team ownership dumps the majority of the decent players.
Ownership probably has a clause that they can charge the city if nobody shows up for a game, but you can bet the ‘greedy SOB’s’ that profited from the ‘public’ building a facility for the ownership don’t have such a luxury.
God resorted to fire and brimstone, last time ...
Every day there is less and less of anything worth protecting in this sick and dying country.
Yep. Better in that democrat hellhole than in my home town!
I don’t have any idea how they would intend to enforce this, either. As long as you didn’t mind putting one over on them, and could put up with the daily shenanigans of the neighbors, you could just say you were gay and nobody would be able to say differently. It’s not like a test will be administered.
Every unit has a back door...
It's been done.....
Yeah, but when you don't show up for the daily orgies, they're going to figure it out.
Gives an unfortunate new meaning to the “City of Brotherly Love”
No, I just checked, and there are no such laws in Pennsylvania.
“Hmmm - having homosexuals grouped in one place. Like some kind of camp....”
Lock in on the coordinates.
Wow, I wonder if I created a housing unit for white people making $500,000 a year and more would it pass in Philadelphia? I guess I will have to apply to see if I can.
Its being built with a mixture of local, state and federal funds.
Translation: Conservatives in Texas will be supporting this place, since THE TAXPAYERS via FEDERAL FUNDS, is paying for it.
Mayor Michael Nutter A good name for a NUTCASE was joined by his predecessors, John Street and Ed Rendell.
Should I care?? No, I don't care!

Big Woop
The building will be named after the late City Councilman John Anderson, who was instrumental in the passage of a civil rights bill for those in the sexual minority.
It will be named 'The John Anderson HOUSE OF SIN and Perversion for old PERVS'
The doors are expected to open at the end of next year.
Right next to the 'RAINBOW FLAG CHILD CARE CENTER'
“It’s a beautiful day in the Gayborhood....” (with profuse apologies to Mr. Rogers).
Oh, the irony, so somehow, the same people who supposedly asked to sit around and have fun with the rest of us, now want to segregate apart from the rest of us. That is totally upside down. WTH do they feel is the problem with living in a world full of people who aren’t like them, wouldn’t that be diverse. Well forget it, some people never made sense to me anyways.

I've been very busy and not pinging much lately, but pinging this slightly oldie but very revelant article as a sort of "bye bye" to paglia444, who thought it a grand idea to spend tax money on special housing for homosexuals.
Oh, not that old - a few days ago! I misread the month...
