The Toledo Blade reported on Monday that the state Department of Jobs and Family Services will begin reducing food stamps for Ohio residents beginning in 2013. Reduction estimates should total $50 per family which is about $520 million worth of yearly groceries from a total of 869,000 households. ..... This amount was determined by the federal department and Ohio can do nothing to change the outcome. ... This is a federal issue, said Joel Potts, executive director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Directors Association. It is what it is. They have a formula. ... We just think it is going to be really hard on families and individuals. They will see significantly less money starting in January.
The unfortunate outcome in Ohio families having their stamps cut is that they will have even less money to spend on food. There are already a number of families that rely on visiting food banks because their food stamps often run out by month's end.
Parents with children who suffer from food allergies have to be critical of certain food items. This means that their grocery bills are often higher than the average family. Because the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will lower food stamps in January it may be even more difficult for them to buy the right type of groceries.

Well Ohio, you still think Obama is the one who really cares for you? Good thing he didn't tell you about this before election day when he was telling you Romney would do this to you.
If you voted for nobama...Bwahahaha!
Saw this on Brett Baur tonight FNC. There is something ironically just about the ‘food stamp president’ who won on compassion waiting till after the election to tell swing/battle-ground state Ohio this.
Well, you picked him Ohio.
I bet it feels better knowing its compassionate O taking the food out of your kids mouths instead of rich Mitt.
Well good luck to the families who lined up, voted for dead people, voted with provisional ballots, thinking Santa Obama was going to help ya. Not gloating but you get what you voted for, a lying pos with a pocket full of hope.
EVERYBODY on food stamps got a de facto reduction when inflation decreased the purchasing power of them. Grocery prices have gone up (to the point where food pantries can’t solicit enough donations); they can eat their “Obama phones”...
The HOPE didn’t pan out and the CHANGE really sucks for OHIO. Too bad, you get what you pay for.
LOL. You want to bet they try to find a way to blame Mitt Romney?
prices are going to keep going up and up pretty rapidly too
food and electricity etc
keep cutting those food stamps, Obama, we can taste the irony
Their vote rations will be cut from 10 to 3 per person (2 votes per dog, 1 per cat and 1 per cartoon superhero/s;)
its so sad it makes me want to cry....NOT!
think carefully about food banks....if these shysters do it, probably millions also get under the table free food..
.no more for me....
if I know of a struggling family, I'll give directly to that family...
Apparently the more miserable it gets, the more voters seem driven to socialism. Hopefully the Repubs can make some mid-term hay from this...
Here in north Jersey food banks serve people in areas where property taxes are over $15K per year; I’ve never given to them and never will. I sleep comfortably at night knowing that my taxes are feeding four welfare recipients, three ileegal aliens, and a government worker...
I need Obama Dollars...
I am sure they told them this with a big picture of Bush during their Two Minute Hate session.
Charmin, Northern ??
Bush’s fault!
Because of the way the federal government calculates utility expenses for people receiving the benefit, a mild winter nationwide last year, and a lower price for natural gas, many families could experience a significant cut in aid, those familiar with the program say.....
Whats called the standard utility allowance the amount deducted from a persons income when the state determines his or her eligibility for the food stamp program will decrease by $166 for 2013, translating to about $50 less per household in food assistance.
OMG - It's Glowball Warming's Fault!!!
I'm very curious if this will be sweeping the nation...it's not just Ohio that had higher temps last year and a reduction in natural gas prices.
Hmm, this "would have been" Romney's fault - so, whose fault is it now?
Wait until the sheepple in this country find out that the federal extension on unemployment benefits, as long as 99 weeks, expire at the end of 2012.
Utilities will be going up with more regulations on the producers. Gasoline will stay high. Food prices are going up & the contents of the packages are getting smaller.
Looks like it's going to be a fun time for the poor folks. But hey - that's what they voted for, so I can't feel too bad about it.
