The FBI probe into the sex scandal that prompted CIA Director David Petraeus to resign has expanded to ensnare Gen. John R. Allen, the commander of U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced early Tuesday.
According to a senior U.S. defense official, the FBI has uncovered between 20,000 and 30,000 documents — most of them e-mails — of “potentially inappropriate” communications between Allen and Jill Kelley, a 37-year-old Tampa woman whose close relationship with Petraeus ultimately led to his downfall.
Allen, a Marine, succeeded Petraeus as the top allied commander in Afghanistan in July 2011. He also served as Petraeus’s deputy when both generals led the military’s Tampa-based Central Command from 2008 until 2010.
The FBI first notified the Pentagon of its investigation into Allen’s communications with Kelley on Sunday evening, according to the senior defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the pending case.
In response, Pentagon chief Leon E. Panetta referred the investigation on Monday to the Defense Department’s Inspector General for further review, according to a statement released by Panetta early Tuesday as he was traveling to Australia.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that if the FBI did not have proper legal authority to read these emails...they are the ones that have broken the law.
Somebody needs to start demanding to see the FBI’s judge signed orders to snoop, as well as all orders signed by Obama on Sept. 11, 2012!!

Using 18 months, 30 days per month, and 15,000 (number between 10K & 20K), that would be 27 emails/day .... JUST to Kelly. Sort of takes a chunk out of ‘official duty’ time. The volume of non-work related emails is inappropriate, regardless of the content and I seriously doubt you can send 27 emails a day to a woman not your wife without getting into some inappropriate content.
Agreed. Lebanon has produced more than their fair share of fine patriotic Americans.

Yes; Obama and Holder are making the FBI do illegal things. You’d think that with thousands of people taking the orders, there’d be a few patriots who would try to fix the problem and get the word out. Where are the Oathkeepers? I gues that group was “big hat; no cattle”.

Yes, AnAmericanAbroad, I do know about Maronite and Coptic Christians.... I have traveled in the Middle East. And notice that I didn't say that the Khawam family was Muslem. I just said they were from Lebanon. They perhaps have family still in Lebanon who might be threatened. I know my Coptic Christian friends in Egypt are under great threats right now. Basically, I was pointing out that this may be another factor in such suspicious circumstances.
