Giles...wasn’t that James O’Keefe’s gal who helped him bust ACORN? Must be a different Giles.
Yup that house is real nice and the taxes are basically less than for Crafton which is right next door. But Crafton has a fairly decent school district while Pgh is a mess! Oldest son isn’t too worried. His kids will be in the city BUT the school is less thsn a mile away in a decent area. For High School they can go to a private school or Bishop Canevin which is right over the hill. They aren’t Catholic but Canevin is fine. I spent some time there and at Duquesne and iked it.
Of course his kids are a long way from HS!
Did anyone cstch the name of Rose’s book? ? Jim mentioned it but I forgot by the time I got home. Maybe “Thank a Soldier”?
I went to St. Joe’s, down in Coraopolis, for three years until we moved to NY when I was a kid. When I was there, they were first through 8th grade. They closed the school last year. Too bad. Son and wife want to either send their kids to a Catholic school or home school.
I’m seriously looking at buying a house but don’t know where to go. I’d like to stay in Crafton, but as you say the taxes are higher. Then again, if I go to the City right next door, I’ll have to pay more than double the wage tax, so I guess it’s a wash.
Looked at a house in Greentree borough the other day, but it’s close to the fracking chemical plant. I’m not anti-fracking, but I’m kind of squeamish about having a chemical factory so close.
