The movie breaks from the Bond tradition in that the opening chase scene is not just a standalone, but is part of the rest of the story.
I’m shocked, shocked, that people here admit to patronizing Hollyweird!
My idea of taking fight to the enemy is Not Giving Them a penny or a glass of water, ever.
Nothing. No HBO, Universal, NFL, NBA...Nothing.
Rediscover Life. Seems people here have hobbies, read and etc.
Why feed the beast? Starve the beast.
***There are however books never made into movies.***
There were quite a few books never made into movies. They merely used the title of a book as the basis for a script writer to write a modern script.
Dr NO and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE are about the only two movies based on the books.
Think of how STARSHIP TROOPERS (the movie) is different from Henlein’s book. The same with Ian Fleming’s BOND books.
Did anyone ever make a movie of the ISRAEL BOND spoof books of the 1960s?
If you have seen Casino Royale, Bond won the car in a poker game in the Bahamas just a few years ago. It is a perfectly acceptable prop in the movie, although the gadgets added like the ejector seat et. al were from Goldfinger.
Thanks. I had forgotten the role of the car in Casino Royale.
Makes sense to include it in Skyfall.
Bond wasn’t ambiguous in that scene. He was tied to a chair and unable to move. It was the bad guy - Raoul Silva who demonstrated overt bisexuality. Javier Bardem played Silva to a perfect level of creepiness.
At first, I wasn't sure what to make of Dench's casting as "M"...But, over the years, she has done a good job. Bernard Lee and Robert Brown...They had it easy as "M"...Dench played more active role than those two. Remember, in "World is Not Enough", "M" is captured by the female villain. In "Skyfall", "M" does play a big role.
Some of Bond films had paperbacks based on screenplays..."Licence to Kill", "Goldeneye", "Tomorrow Never Dies", "World is Not Enough", and "Die Another Day"...
