Hostess Brands Inc. is permanently closing three bakeries following a nationwide strike by its bakers union.
The maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread said Monday that the strike has prevented it from producing and delivering products, and it is closing bakeries in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati. The facilities employ 627 workers.
Thousands of members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union went on strike Nov. 9 to protest cuts to wages and benefits under a new contract offer, which the union rejected in September. Union officials say the company stopped contributing to workers' pensions last year.
Hostess has argued that workers must make concessions as it tries to improve its financial position.

You already had it.
Third from the bottom of the first group 459 employees...
I just noticed. A lot of those are in Texas, too.

The private sector is doing fine. - Barack Obama
Well I guess the pay cuts ticked up a little...
Wonder Bread is a competitively-priced brand compared with other bread on the shelves and it’s among the bread products I buy.
Hmmm... I wonder if that one on Dexter Ave. N. and Mercer Ave. just north of downtown Seattle has closed for the strike? It smells great when I pass by there!
I just read the whole article and, yes, that’s the one!
Waiting for the executive order from the WON that makes all of these companies government owned and run.
I think the unions will do well (do a search for syndicalism), but there members are going to take one heck of a beating.
Hopey-Changey!!!
It’s starting to look like unions and waitresses (single women) are taking the brunt of Obamasizing so far. How did they vote again?
When I was a kid in Seattle, there was a baker who worked at this bakery who was known all around town for his quality. His name was Milton Walker. He was one of those old school craftsmen who just “knew” how to bake
Milt would put loaves of bread in the oven and then go for a little walk down the street to the harbor and Pier 16. By the time he got back to the bakery, the bread was perfectly baked. If he went to Pier 17, the bread was over done. Likewise, a shorter walk to Pier 15 meant under baked loaves. For this, he was reknown town wide. One of those things from a more simple time that was important to a city's character.
When he retired, a huge celebration was held for Milt. In fact, the City placed a plaque down at Pier 16, commemorating the fact that it was the Pier that made Milt Walker famous......
Concessions or confections?
Twinkies have been in trouble since they started using HFCS.
Michelle’s fault!!
But this is no joking matter.
