Former Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele is floating the idea of running for his old post again.
In an interview on C-SPAN on Sunday, Steele was first asked if he thought current RNC Chairman Reince Priebus should run for another term. Priebus has suggested that he is leaning toward running for reelection.

Steele became the RNC chair on January 30, 2009. The chart below is from HotAir.com. It shows Michael Steele's approval rating in a PPP poll from April, 2010:
Notice that 5% approval rating among blacks? That's what happens when Republicans try to play identity politics.
I thought he would be a good choice the first time around. I was wrong, and he does not deserve a second chance.
I thought Ken Blackwell would be a better choice at the time and still do.
Debates don’t mean much in discerning the truth about ones record or how they’ve actually voted or will vote, since we all know how so many pols “find Conservatism” when they’re campaigning and just as quickly jettison it. It was just as hillarious watching the motley crew of RINOs in the Presidential primary proclaim themselves as disciples of Reagan. Mourdock could win, and had already done so statewide, but he should’ve known better on what subjects to discuss and not get tripped up. This should be known as the “Clayton Williams Rule.” From now on, any GOP politician who violates this rule should step down as a candidate at once.
Just in case Florida doesn’t work out - Alan West.
I will take “Hell no for 20 dollars, Alex “
You are certainly right.
Does the current Republican Party have a leader? Not just a leader in name, but an actual leader? Is it Mitt Romney? Rush Limbaugh? Sarah Palin? I have no idea.
Priebus was a disaster? The chairman’s job it to drum up money. I haven’t seen anything say the GOP was cash starved or deep in the red like I read Steele left it.
Not just no, but oh hell no.
Oh no he wasn’t either. Steele provided no leadership, couldn’t raise a dime, and pretty much left everybody on their own with no resources.
This coming from you is quite a ringing endorsement, since absolutely nothing you say has any factual basis. I remember the thread where you actually blamed Priebus for the comments made by Mourdock and that Priebus should have somehow known that Mourdock was going to say that and it was Priebus and the RNC's fault for not sending handlers to train him.
Not exactly "full bore" - you don't remember this controversy:
The choice issue cuts two ways. You can choose life, or you can choose abortion. You know, my mother chose life. So, you know, I think the power of the argument of choice boils down to stating a case for one or the other, Mr. Steele said. The exchange then went as follows, starting with GQ: Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion? Yeah. I mean, again, I think thats an individual choice. You do? Yeah. Absolutely. Mr. Steele then elaborated that he thought Roe v. Wade as a legal matter, Roe v. Wade was a wrongly decided matter, which prompted Miss DePaulo to ask: But if you overturn Roe v. Wade, how do women have the choice you just said they should have? Mr. Steele responded. The states should make that choice. Thats what the choice is. The individual choice rests in the states. Let them decide. Though the former Maryland lieutenant governor always has said he is pro-life and won the endorsement of the National Right to Life Committee in his U.S. Senate run in 2006, he often has been viewed with suspicion by pro-life conservatives. For example, he helped found the Republican Leadership Council with pro-choice Republican Christie Whitman. In a 2006 interview on NBCs Meet the Press, he said he thought Roe should be followed as settled law and would not say hed support a constitutional amendment to ban abortion. Indeed, a disaster. No money, no direction, no leadership. It was a disorganized mess - we won because our voters were self motivated in great numbers - can you imagine the gains if the resources had existed to have an adequate GOTV effort to target the “lazy voters” on top of that?
Sarah!
Yes, indeed.. When did the GOP do better than 2010, recently?
May I suggest Sarah Palin?
Absolutely not. All Steele wanted to do is plug his book.
Not a bad idea.
Both were and are morons. Priebus should do the honorable thing and step down as he didn’t get the job done.
