Broadwell: Petraeus Knew of Benghazi Plea for Help
Arutz Sheva ^ | 11/11/2012 | Gil Ronen

Posted on 11/12/2012 10:43:50 AM PST by mojito

Military expert Paula Broadwell, who was allegedly improperly involved with resigned CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus, confirmed in October that the CIA annex in Benghazi asked for reinforcements when the consulate came under attack on September 11....

Broadwell was speaking at her alma mater, the University of Denver, on October 26. Her lecture, which is on YouTube under the title "Alumni Symposium 2012 Paula Broadwell," now has added value, because based on the recent disclosures, it can now be assumed that she indeed knew exactly what it was that Petraeus knew about the attack.

Broadwell confirmed the reports on Fox News that the CIA annex asked for a special unit, the Commander in Chief's In Extremis Force, to come and assist it. She also said that the force could indeed have reinforced the consulate, and that Petraeus knew all of this, but was not allowed to talk to the press because of his position in the CIA.

[....]

"They were requesting the – it's called the C-in-C's In Extremis Force – a group of Delta Force operators, our very, most talented guys we have in the military. They could have come and reinforced the consulate and the CIA annex. Now, I don't know if a lot of you have heard this but the CIA annex had actually taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner, and they think that the attack on the consulate was an attempt to get these prisoners back. It's still being vetted.

"The challenging thing for Gen. Petraeus is that in his new position, he's not allowed to communicate with the press. So he's known all of this – they had correspondence with the CIA station chief in Libya, within 24 hours they kind of knew what was happening."

Petraeus had a great pickup line. ‘Do you want to write my biography?’ For every King of the Hill, there are women who want to be queen.

Just an observation. It’s kinda odd...someone who has zero journalism experience....gets picked up and approved to be embedded with the big general? Go back and look at day one, and she was some military intellectual who had a number of college degrees and a number of years in the military...nothing else. And she starts reporting for the New York Times?

Charlotte Observer, Jan. 24, 2012:

So how did a Dilworth mom score this assignment?

The answer begins at West Point. Broadwell, who grew up in North Dakota, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, also Petraeus's alma mater. She has worked in military intelligence, lived in multiple countries and specialized in counterinsurgency, counterterrorism and geopolitical analysis.

She met Petraeus in 2006 when he spoke at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where she was a graduate student. When she told him about her research interests, he handed her his card and offered his help. "He really cares about mentoring," she says.

Later, with his cooperation, she began a doctoral dissertation that included a case study of his leadership.

So it looks like they met in 2006, when she was a 34-year-old grad student and army officer, and it was he who decided to maintain contact with her.

I have a feeling that this whole “affair” thing was put together as a way to prevent Patraeus from testifying before Congress. If he gets charged with any crime (such as Adultury under the UMCJ) then he can refuse to testify at any Congressional hearing on the grounds on 5th amendment grounds.

Patraeus’ testimony could bring down both Obama and him. I think that they leaked this whole thing to delay any proceedings. Look for the Military to issue a court marshall for “adultery” while he was still in the Military. That should delay the whole thing for at least a couple of years until the heat blows over. Then the Military will drop all charges based on lack of evidence.

Nothing to see here.

Thanks! I found this nugget from her smiling, joking speech on how her-bed pall helped murder 4 Americans.

Dr. Paula Petticoat Broad”wellcare” : “In my career I have never had any kind of sexual harassment.” She said it with her usual smirk. Being a spy for al-Qaeda is apparently sooooooooo much fun!

ANOTHER man victim of having two locations for his brains! It just has to be genetic. Zipper-Boy Clinton had the same problem. Could be the water in DC, I guess - - - .

BTW, is she really a graduate of West Point? Wasn’t General Benedict Arnold trying to give away West Point when he was caught as a traitor? History does move in a circle.

BTW, BTW, do NOT watch this video if your blood pressure is already elevated, just DON’T!

Obama loves it when you write like that!

Sorry to see that you have become another victim of THE OBAMA MIND MELD.

I’ve thought all along that Petraeus was being blackmailed to toe the administration’s “it was the video” meme on Benghazi. I thought he was resigning because the ‘red line’ for him was going to be testifying under oath this week and he wasn’t willing to lie under oath. Now, it seems Clapper was the one who aked him to resign .... Petraeus wasn’t the one originating the resignation idea so .... still think the blackmail opportunity would have been too good for the Obamathugs not to have used it, but it’s not as strong a case as it would have been if Petraeus resigned of his own volition, ostensibly to get out from under the blackmail threat.

Who actually KNOWS if Clapper asked him to resign or if it was Petraeus’ idea? I’ve heard a different story every day about what happened, and I frankly don’t think we’ve heard the truth yet by any means.

I will never believe that Petraeus did anything but go flippin nuts trying to get the guys in Benghazi help. I also believe he threw his CIA citation in Obama’s face and refused to repeat the “film” lie at the hearings this week. When he was threatened with the affair he had to have said, “I’ll out myself and I quit!”.

The chances of the military charging Petraeus with adultery after he has left service are worse than slim to none. Even in the case of adultery while still in service, it is extremely difficult to prove absent pictures or personal confession.

IIRC, Petraeus has put no timeline on his alleged adultery. Additionally, it is also impossible, if he recanted his confession, to prove beyond his own word. He didn’t confess under oath, and he could always say there were politically expedient, personal, psychological, etc., reasons that he said what he said and then recant his confession.

The military is not going to charge him. He did this purely to help Obama with the Benghazi case.

The majority of news sources are saying it ... BUT until you get them all testifying under oath, you are correct that the truth isn’t known. Then again, the way things are going these days, I’m not sure even being under oath before Congress is going to result in the truth.

She knew what she was doing, IMHO. This speech on 10/26 was after her initial interview with the FBI.

Unless he has charges pending when he testifies before Congress, he cannot take the fifth without implicating himself in some crime directly related to the cover up.

I do think he “confessed” to this affair and resigned as a way of giving both himself and Obama some cover and possibly buying some time in order for the heat to die down.

Frankly, though, unless Obama is caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy, Congress is not going to be pressing any serious investigation that might implicate Obama in anything. It’s not in the cards. Boehner is fully on board with Obama’s agenda and nothing will stand in their way.

"As a former intel officer it's frustrating to me because it reveals our sources and methods, I don't think the public necessarily needs to know all of that. It is a tragedy that we lost an ambassador and two other government officials,

Now who is giving away "sources and methods"

There were FOUR government officials.

This illustrates how easy it is in our politically correct DA/DT military
for a KGB "swallow" to take down a four star &/or D/CIA.

I agree. Congress is not going to pursue anything that involves Petraeus adultery.

Also, the military won’t pursue anything that their commander in chief tells them not to pursue (or their secdef/secarmy/cjcs/Chief of Staff Army.
