The dream act is a socialist democrat dream come true. And a nightmare for liberty minded Americans. The dream act solves no problems. Amnesty solves no problems. The border will not be enforced and instead will be flung wide open.
We do not have jobs for Senator Graham's "eleven million" illegal aliens already here and their offspring nor the other eleven or twelve million he's not counting and their offspring and all their relatives that will be following. We cannot afford the welfare, foodstamps, housing, education, healthcare, EITC, etc, that they demand. And the flood across the borders will be impossible to stop once they are accepted here with open arms.
And they'll vote largely for the democrats. Republicans will never win another election. It's a democrat dream come true.
Hold fast to the rule of law. Damn the RINOs!! Enforce the borders!!
The pResident has a mandate
Amnesty
Increases revenues/taxes
Must stop this fiscal cliff (where was he on this during the campaign??)
And, on and on...
You are right....EVERYONE should be calling their Repub Reps and calling on them to FIRE Bonehead!!
thanks
” All who have GOP Representatives, please call to tell them not to vote Boehner speaker when the session starts! I just did.”
I just did as well.
Get on board, folks!
BTTT
Mine is a filthy, corrupt demonic-rat. He won’t be voting for Boehner.
Those who are "represented" by Graham and McCain will be on the same side as the rats on amnesty.
It aint gonna happen. There is no political way that what you advocate is going to happen. So why do you waste time pushing it?
Take what you can get in the debate or lose on all points.
What part of my post is wrong? What part of my post suggests that we must have all at once or nothing?
Pushing parts of my suggestion in the several states is a path to success, not a waste of time.
The Dream Act means that we will become a one party nation.
What would be a good fine that would be acceptable as a condition to let them stay? Hmmn, maybe $50,000? If they can pay the coyotes thousands of dollars they can pay us for the priviledge of staying here.
The Goldwater 1964 election put Republicans in the tank for years. The universal feeling at the time was that the Republican party was done. If you look back at that time, it was just a year after the assasination of JFK, the house and senate and president were democrat so what could you expect. America was on a big democrat high but the conservatives stuck to their principles and we finally got Ronald Reagan. But we really have to do something about immigration. Why is it that it is okay to say that we should have more immigration but it is never okay to say that we should have less immigration?
Somehow we have to take this Hispanic sensitivity thing and turn it around. We should ask: Do you really believe that illegal aliens only do the jobs that Americans won’t do? Do you think that a million immigrants is too much? We have to come up with some questions to ask the people. Hispanics are not the only ones who have a stake in this question.
Conservatives have to do polling and focus groups on the immigration issue and then we have to hire professional public relations people to present our views in the most polished way possible. The Democrats are very slick and masters of word use but somehow the Republican party does not have its act together when picking a theme and articulating in an effective way.
Actually, that counter-proposal already exists.
While the DREAM act is almost completely wrong, Google MAVNI (Military Acquisitions Vital to the National Interest).
MAVNI, as originally designed, was a good program, formalizing things that had been done on an ad-hoc basis and unofficially, to recruit foreign citizens already living legally in the United States who have language skills at the enlisted level and medical skills at the officer level (basically nurses or doctors, already licensed to practice) for which we simply can't get enough from the pool of typical Army recruits. A very small quota went to other services, but MAVNI was basically an Army program due to the much greater need for numbers in the Army compared to the other smaller services.
The MAVNI program works, it recruits people who are at the upper ends of the military aptitude scales, and a MAVNI recruit became the Soldier of the Year recently.
The creation of the DREAM Act scuttled MAVNI, though it's been re-instituted on a temporary basis again. We'll see how long that lasts.
I have no problem with giving American citizenship to people who served honorably in the Armed Forces. For those who think MAVNI takes jobs away from Americans, the simple fact is that if the Army were a private company, its recruiting difficulties would provide valid grounds for the special work permits issued to people who have high-demand jobs that Americans don't want.
By the way, Spanish has never been a qualifying language for MAVNI recruitment. Nobody thinks we're going to be fighting a major war against a Spanish speaking country. The key languages for recruitment are Korean, Chinese, Arabic, and Farsi, with other languages of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe and other former Soviet client states allowed as well, plus some other high-need languages in places we might realistically fight and where we would need people who know the language.
